Merging Commonwealth System of Higher Education and State-related

I found the content of these two articles are nearly the same. For this reason, I propose the two articles to be merged-- discuss here. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 04:07, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Favor - I would support the merging of both articles; however, I believe the Commonwealth System of Higher Education should be the surviving page, as related to Pennsylvania. We could merge state-related into it, but I have noticed that many universities (often outside of PA) use the term state-supported, but there is no official page on the directory. Maybe we could incorporate it into the state-related page and keep both??? Thoughts... Wrightchr 20:35, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Support since both articles essentially discuss the same topic. The Commonwealth System of Higher Education is the only state-related university system, so a merge would be an excellent decision. –Crashintome4196 05:12, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Pennsylvania State University Commonwealth campuses

• Disagree "The Commonwealth System of Higher Education" is a completely different topic than the "Pennsylvania State University Commonwealth campuses," although I can see how one might easily confuse them:

• The Pennsylvania State University Commonwealth campuses are an organizational unit within a specific university, Penn State, consisting of 14 Penn State campuses that are not standalone colleges within the university.

• The Commonwealth System of Higher Education is the Pennsylvania system of designating four universities in the state (Lincoln, Pitt, Temple, and Penn State) as "state related" (not "public," although they are often called that) and how they are uniquely funded and governed. Penn State's campuses just happen to be listed in Commonwealth System of Higher Education article.

• To complicate matters, there is also an article about the "Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education", which is a completely different entity from "The Commonwealth System of Higher Education." (Hard to believe, but true.) This article describes a collection of 14 separate and completely state-owned (truly "public") colleges in Pennsylvania. They are sometimes jointly referred to as "The SSHE System."
