Peter James Allan

Anyone going to create a page for this guy; The Honourable Peter James Allan JP (Chinese name: 區亮賢; born 1945) from Christchurch, New Zealand. While in this ICAC role, he died, aged 47, of a heart attack.

From his ICAC obituary: "qualified as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in 1970. He joined the Legal Department of the Hong Kong Civil Service as a Crown Counsel in 1979 and rose to the rank of Law Officer. In 1988 Peter became Crown Solicitor and head of the Civil Division of the Legal Department. Peter established a fine reputation as a lawyer, particularly in the field of administrative law. He had a profound infIuence on the development of public law in Hong Kong."

He served as Acting Attorney General for one day: 25 April 1990 - 26 April 1990 ref, apparently in order to attend this six-hour meeting (which he then successfully had adjourned, as his only contribution).

Was married, to Elizabeth, with a daughter, Lucy.

British, born 16 June 1941, died ~28 March 2020 SCMP obit A lawyer, in London and Hong Kong. was Solicitor General of Hong Kong, and then ICAC Commissioner. Directly from his ICAC role, he set up an anti-corruption consultancy, in Richmond, Surrey, UK: De Speville & Associates, www.despevilleassociates.com eg here which included many of his former colleagues at ICAC : advised governments and international organisations on various aspects of anticorruption policy and practice. From 1997-2003 he was the adviser to the Council of Europe's Multidisciplinary Group on Corruption. author of 'Overcoming Corruption - The Essentials' (2010) ISBN 978-0-9564788-0-1.
