2012 Cold Cave collaborators

Information regarding the involvement of Hunter Burgan, London May, David Scott Stone and Cody Votolato has been deleted again and again and again--despite the fact that there are multiple third-party sources confirming their (at least temporary) involvement and a first-party, hand-written letter also confirming their involvement. Hrtwrm2013, in your last edit summary you stated, Cold Cave is a solo project not a band, there has been collaborators but not other 'members.' Also in 'Third album' section the new Spin link says music made by Eisold not by others mentioned in outdated Alt. Press link previously deleted. I have several objections to this statement. First of all, I'm really not sure what you mean by "outdated". This article is meant to give a historical overview of Cold Cave, so much of the information will be "outdated". For example, Cold Cave played at the Guggenheim Museum a year ago – this information is very much outdated. I see no valid reason for removing a band line up whether it's current or outdated. Also, please note that the way it was written in no way suggested that as of April 2013, the people listed were currently members of Cold Cave.

Please look at some of Wikipedia's featured band articles. Nine Inch Nails would be a great example. Like Cold Cave, the work of NIN is primarily handled by Trent Reznor. The history section, and specifically the separate article for band members and collaborators, outlines various members who have come and gone throughout the band's existence. I think Fezmar9 has a very good point, especially about the removal of sourced material. A couple of things occur to me, 1) the obvious possibilty that Heartwrm2013 has a conflict of interest and thus should recuse him/herself from editing the article altogether, 2) if CC is a solo effort, it and also Heartworm Press - currently up for deletion - should perhaps all be merged. I've been suspicious about a COI too. On merging with Wesley Eisold, I have mixed feelings. Yes, it technically is a solo act but it's rarely referred to as such. Usually sources will acknowledge this is Eisold's gig but then later refer to it as a band or collaborative effort. The more I think about it, the more I think the Nine Inch Nails comparison is perfect. Trent Reznor wrote about 95% of the songs released by Nine Inch Nails and recorded most of its early stuff entirely by himself. His more recent albums feature various studio/guest musicians on select songs and a whole band is hired for touring. Despite this, Nine Inch Nails is rarely referred to as a solo act even though it technically is. I'd be open to hearing more input from other editors, though. I've also been doing a lot of research as I plan on expanding this article. At least around the time of Love Comes Close, it looks like Eisold thought of Cold Cave as a band and not just a solo project. From an interview with Pitchfork: "It definitely was a personal project, but it is in the transition to an actual band now with Caralee McElroy, Dominick Fernow, and Sarah Lipstate [Noveller, ex-Parts and Labor]." Conflict of Interest

This edit by Heartwrm2013 has the summary: (Hey Fezmar9, We are the people you are editing and the information you are trying to source as Fact never happened. Some of the people mentioned never even performed in the project. There have been about 20 different live contributors ...). I'd say that is as open a declaration of conflict of interest as an editor can give. The edit removed sourced material. I reverted and Heartwrm2013 immediately un-reverted. I am going to revert once more with a direction to bring it to talk. I have posted at COI notice to User talk:Hrtwrm2013. Wwwhatsup (talk) 17:35, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Hrtwrm2013, perhaps you should talk this over with Eisold, who was quoted as saying, "I did a two and a half week tour with that line up." If these members truly did not perform as a part of Cold Cave, do you have a published source that could be used to verify this claim? Also, Wikipedia band articles should provide a list of official members and collaborators past and present. If there has been "about 20 different live contributors," then all of them should be added to the article as well. I would also highly suggest reading WP:COI. Continuing to edit the way you have been will get you banned from editing Wikipedia real fast. Fezmar9 (talk) 18:13, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

• Also in 2014, Cold Cave collaborated with techno musician Black Asteroid and fashion designer Rick Owens on the Black Asteroid release and video of the song 'Black Moon.'
