Talk:Cointreau

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

The definition contradicts that of Triple sec, where it says "Contrary to popular belief, the original triple sec is not Cointreau"

It is tasteful enough to be consumed without additions. It is strong enough to be consumed with care. Cointreau is considered to be either a premium brand

This reads like an advert. The wording should be changed to present a more neutral picture of Cointreau The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.68.153.36 (talk • contribs) .

Well, none of those terms are really hyperbole. I've sourced the 'premium brand' bit to one of the 'reviews', and the other sentences are descriptions of how you drink it, so I don't think those should be removed. Perhaps they should be rewritten - any suggestions? I left that when cleaning up the previous NPOV issue because as far as I can tell it is factually correct. Perhaps you could suggest a different wording? Zarboki 06:51, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any more concerns or can we remove the POV tag? --Malthusian (talk) 19:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
I have already removed it, thatnks for extending the controversy portion and making it more accurate --Jungboho 82.68.153.36 23:09, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Any time. Thanks for adding the initial text. --Malthusian (talk) 23:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Didn't this article have a picture once, I couldn't find it in history. This article contains an inconsistency with the article triple sec in that this article states the typical alcohol content to be 23%, but the triple sec article says the typical alcohol content is 30%. This article's citation for the 23% number is another Wikipedia article, hence I have added a fact tag. 71.56.242.55 (talk) 20:55, 8 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Home Made Cointreau edit

Ingredients:- 1 Organic Orange [commercial ones are detergent washed and waxed, no good] 400mm string 1 Large Air Tight Preserving Jar 750ml of Vodka or Brandy 500ml of Sugar

Method:- -Put sugar in clean jar -with a meat skewer poke string through middle of orange -pour Vodka or Brandy into jar -suspend orange 12mm above liquid, it must not touch -close lid and lock down clip, so it fixes orange in place -leave for 3 months -pour into bottle or decanter, taste now, better in 3 months -use the orange rind in a fruit cake and juice to make a cocktail, much alcohold goes in over time

Action:- -you now have a factory with no moving parts -alcohol steams off and condenses on the surface of the orange and drips back into liquid -about the rate of one drop per hour, after a few days you will see the discolouration begin -I also did a mandarin one, wasn't as good, but after 6 months in bottle, it was great!

Ownership clarification edit

Article currently states, "The company is still owned and run by the Cointreau family;" while the article on Rémy Cointreau seems to contradict this. Can someone clarify? Oswald Glinkmeyer (talk) 16:32, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just corrected this, but when you find errors like this, you can correct them yourself -- best practice is of course to include reliable sources for any statements. --Macrakis (talk) 01:57, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
