Contradictions in the Intro.

The introduction claims that in the '60's Finnish films "became political and too artistic for the masses, as commercial production was considered a thing of the past and distateful [sic]." In the very next line, it goes on to say, "Few filmmakers were opposed to this development, and kept producing popular films that were bashed by the critics but loved by the people." So it sounds like just as Finnish commercial cinema was dying, it was also booming and enjoying great popular success. Finnish cinema experts, which is it? Your input would be greatly appreciated.
