What does this mean?

"Archbishop Chrysostomos II is the first Archbishop of the G.O.C. who ever became acceptable from the maximum sovereign of his Country (the President of the Democracy Mr. Konstantinos Stephanopoulos on 8-6-1998)."

Does the author want to say that Chrysostomos II was the first archbishop of the GOC to be received by a president? 83.84.195.88 (talk) 14:53, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

I apologize for the bad translation (from Greek). Until recently, the Old Calendarists (Orthodox Churches that follow the Julian Calendar, versus the Modern, Gregorian Calendar, in countries where the State/Official Church adheres to the new one), where not recognized as legal entities, and were subjected to persecutions. In recent years, many members of the Old Calendar movement have become prominent public figures, or in the cited case, have received recognition from the authorities.
