Car

"Antique"? Since when is a '58 Fury an antique? And "evil car, N possessed"? Huh? I wasn't aware inanimate objects were evil (no matter what Greenpeace says). "Evil", N "haunted", I'd agree. My recollection of the novel was, LeBay & Christine formed a partnership... The movie left open the possibility of a sequel; I'd guess it didn't do well enough. (For trivia nuts: Earle Hagen's "Harlem Nocturne", better known as the theme to "Mike Hammer", was the song played when Christine repaired herself.) Also, Strommen's Fury was a 'glass bodied '57; while I see the inspiration, the connection to the rest of the article seems a bit tenuous to me, as if it was stuck on as an afterthought. And can somebody who knows more about IHRA ProMod than me include what engine spec she ran under? I'm thinking 707ci on nitrous, but... Trekphiler 09:42, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Quantum Leap

Shouldn't there be an allusion to the Quantum Leap third-season episode "The Boogieman"? After all, IIRC, there was an indication that Sam Beckett gave a young Stevie King the idea for that episode … right? --Micahbrwn 22:04, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Department of mistaken vehicles

Seems to me the article wants a section on King's mistakes. The Fury was never available in that color scheme, or with four doors. It's a '58 Belvedere, kinda like this one:

I took out the word "mere" from the price of the car, "mere $250". (I'm trusting the first writer got the amount correct.)I have no idea if that actually would have been a good price for the car or not, but Dennis seems to think it's way too high, and wonders if Arnie's desire for the car is making him go crazy, which it is. $250 would, in 1978, have been a fairly low price for a car, even an old used car, in reasonable running condition, but a quite high price for a car in the condition described in the early chapters of the book. 205.210.232.62 (talk) 19:23, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Roland

Since when was it obvious that "Roland" was driving the car at the end? Roland who was in a back brace and sold the car was still alive. Included in textbooks?

I'm confused with the latest edit, that adds the Category:Cengage Learning books to this article. From what I can tell, that is a list of literature books that are used in teaching. Christine doesn't seem to fit. Is the category a mistake? --TMC1221 (talk) 18:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it didn't make much sense to me either, but since I wasn't sure if maybe I had just missed something, I figured I'd leave it for someone else to remove. I added it. The reasoning is a bit contorted: Christine appears to have been reprinted by Thorndike Press (ISBN 0-7862-2631-5, hardcover, 2000). Thorndike (current website) is an imprint of a company that used to be known as Gale Group; Gale was bought by Thomson Learning and renamed Thomson Gale; Thomson Learning (at least most of it) was then sold by Thomson to OMERS and Apax Partners and renamed Cengage Learning; Gale (Cengage) is still part of it. Gale has a bunch of imprints (imprint list), some of which seem only tangentially related to school education; and Cengage has a bunch more of its own. I was going around tagging all the publications that were printed by Cengage or Gale subsidiaries, because most of them had been in Category:Thomson family even though Thomson had sold them off. In short, Christine is in Category:Cengage Learning books because of the Thorndike reprint; "Cengage Learning" just happens to be the rather unfortunate name of the parent company. Most of the similar works listed don't really belong at this article. I think they would be better suited at the Phantom vehicle article. Unless they have a specific relationship to Stephen King, they ought to be removed. --TMC1221 (talk) 21:42, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, ChristineCar. Thanks for asking about this on the talk page first. I've taken a look at your website and I'm personally of the opinion that it's not an appropriate external link. My reasons are that:

a) You appear to want to add this link to promote (generally bad on Wikipedia) your own website (even worse). You may not be aware that adding a link to Wikipedia will not raise search engine rankings (as I understand it, this is a deliberate feature of the Wikipedia software, to discourage promotional links)

b) The webpage appears to be on the order of a fansite. Per our External Links policy, we prefer to link only to outside sites that are directly relevant to the content of the article. A website listing a critic's review of the book Christine, for example, would tend to be more acceptable than a site that's for people who collect cars that just look like a character in the novel.

IP Editor repeatedly adding link to car site

To the IP editor who is repeatedly adding links to the site about cars that look like Christine: Please make any arguments you have about why this link is appropriate ON THIS TALK page, preferably in the section above, dedicated to this topic, rather than repeatedly adding the link. When you ignore previous discussion on this issue, and continue to add the link, you appear to be more interested in forcing your link onto Wikipedia than in the good of the article.

I would also appreciate it if other editors would weigh in on the appropriateness of this link, as the IP/user:ChristineCar does not appear inclined to believe my take on the topic.
