Spoiler in article edit

I think it is a huge disservice to D'Lacey's readers that the end of Firestar is described (David Rain's seeming demise) in this article. Please remove it. Or at the very least, java the statements into a spoiler note that can only be seen by choosing to reveal the information.

D'Lacey does have a website, www.icefire.co.uk, in which personal information and his works are described. It would be a useful link.

Prod removed edit

I have removed the {{prod}} tag. The author has quite a lot of Google hits, and I found this article with an independent bio. Sjakkalle (Check!) 12:51, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Needs expansion edit

I have reduced the article to the basics. It could do with sympathetic expansion by someone who has some knowledge of Chris D'Lacey's work. Angus McLellan (Talk)

Bad Link edit

The link to "The Fire Within" leads to an incorrect wikipedia page, one about a movie. I do not yet know how to edit this, or create a new page. Please fix that link.

Contradiction - date of birth edit

I have added the {{contradict}} template to the article, as the text says he was born in 1954, the categories say 1949. DuncanHill 00:53, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately this same contradiction seems to be spread across the whole internet - half the pages say he was born in 1954, and half say 1949!
Egmont's website says he was born in 1949 but this bio is no longer listed in the author database, and in fact you get no results at all if you search their site for him... Umm. That's a bit suspicious; I wouldn't be inclined to trust it. However it comes up 10th in a Google search for him so other people may well have used it as a source.
The author's own website (BE WARNED IT MESSES WITH YOUR BROWSER WINDOW) is a bit random and not all of the pages seem to be up to date. It doesn't definitively state his birthdate, but the Q&A section - written sometime between Icefire (2003) and Fire Star (2005) - says he is 50, which means he couldn't have been born in 1949 or he'd be at least 53 then; it also says he was born in December. The about me section says he is 52, which if he was born in December 1954 would be currently correct.
Also that would then seem to match up with this comment he apparently left on a blog, which says that December 15 2006 was his 52nd birthday. Now, having read the journal on his official website, the writing style of this comment seems consistent, and I can't see why anyone would fake a comment like this... but obviously I can't be 100% sure that it's real.
That said, I think the only way we can be 100%, absolutely, completely sure of his exact birthdate is to get a look at his birth certificate or find him in some BMD register. Neither of which is likely, frankly. So I'm going to put his birthday in as December 15 1954 because that's what most of these pages seem to be pointing towards.
