Fair use picture

I appreciate what you are intending that picture to show, but please read WP:FAIRUSE for guidelines on how these images can be used. As it stands there is no fair use rationale on the image page, and you are bucking for the image to be deleted from wikipedia entirely, as wikipedia has to take copyright and violations of fairuse very seriously. The image currently illustrates the article on the ship, the subject of the picture, but it does not illustrate the subject of this article, the Children's Overseas Reception Board, merely a ship they used once. Since the ship article and its image is linked from here, this is sufficient. Benea (talk) 15:51, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Did CORB children also travel to the US?

The article and the UK archives mention commonwealth nations, but not the US. The UK citation refers to invitations from the US. My mother, who would have have been 10 years old at the time, claims her Manchester neighbor was placed in the US. This was a low income neighborhood, so they would not have had a private placement. Personally I'm a bit skeptical, but if someone else can confirm this we might correct the article. John Faughnan (talk) 22:17, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes they did. However usually via Canada as the the US was a neutral at this time in WWII. I have read the discussion issues and will re-write this page with additional material that hopefully will provide a clearer and more detailed account of this organisation. CORB Children Did Not Travel to United States

The Children's Overseas Reception Board sent children only to four British Dominions — Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. There were no attempts by the board to send children to the United States as other programs had been founded to send children to these countries by private evacuation that, like CORB, was free of charge. Most of the children evacuated to the US came through USCOM (I am currently editing that article now as it is almost completely inaccurate). However, several CORB children who were evacuated to Canada came privately by train to the United States. There were also smaller private evacuations to the Caribbean, India, and several other areas.
