Weather edit

Does anyone else think the numbers for high and low temperatures seem off? It gets downright hot in the Interior in the summer, and it gets a lot colder than twenty below in the winter. The source doesn't seem to be linked so I don't know how we could check it, but I think this needs correecting. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:35, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

A nearby NWS coop station (ID 509891) has an average July high of 75F and an average January low of -13F, with another station just a bit farther away (509489) at 72 and -17, respectively. The info in this article doesn't seem bad, although a better source is needed. – Juliancolton | Talk 23:08, 15 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • It looks like this article here is trying to cite this source, although some of the current numbers in the article here (mostly after the decimal point?) don't seem to match up exactly for some reason. Accurate climate information is unfortunately harder than it should be to find online, but I'm not familiar at all with "Weatherbase", which appears to collect info "from a variety of public domain sources, including the National Climatic Data Center". They also apparently do some "normalizing" of "the data to make it uniform and associating each of our locations with the nearest city or town." I dunno if doing all that (whatever they think it actually means) is such a good idea when it comes to this kind of data though.
It generally is a better idea to "cut out the middle man" whenever possible and just go directly with official climate information from an official source, like, in this case, the Western Regional Climate Center. I'll let someone else sort all that out in the actual article though...in case someone else objects. Please ping me if you have any further questions or concerns. Why is it metric first? edit

For some reason the article is metric first (fahrenheit in parentheses) and I think it should be the other way around. The article is about a place in the us which uses the us customary system, and other articles about places in Alaska are fahrenheit first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.140.86.16 (talk) 08:25, 27 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
