Delete via redirect

Could you explain why you believe this? Reliable sources do not cover her in any detail that satisfies WP:GNG, WP:BIO, etc. She gets quoted a lot in articles that aren't about her, but this obviously is not evidence of notability. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 03:41, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

She is notable, but I can't find much on her specifically/personally on a brief search. Marjorie Dannenfelser has sources showing her notability outside of the SBA List, but I can't find the same with Yoest. May have to redirect her back to AUL. NYyankees51 (talk) 15:47, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

That was basically what I thought. Her name is a legitimate search term (if for nothing else than "I remember her name, which organization did she run again?"), so I don't want to delete the article outright, but she doesn't seem to have received any coverage. On the other hand, as you point out, Dannenfelser has that WaPo article all about her, and it's possible that there is more. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 01:55, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Most recently, on August 15, 2011, The Christian Science Monitor profiled Yoest in a story that appeared as a cover story in that publication.

Removed Redirect

I have removed the redirect from this page and restored it to what it was before there seemed to have been a redirect/remove war. The reasons were noted on this talk page in other sections and also on Talk:Americans_United_for_Life. I will be making the edits discussed as well as some others to improve the page and prove further notability. The Kissling quote is unusable. It is shown with ellipses indicating text removed, but we do not have the original quote to determine context. It is likely that the original context is not so full of praise; it is likely that Kissling was misrepresented by reporter Eliza Gray. The original source of that quote is an article in The New Republic which also includes the ellipses. Nothing was edited from that quote in the article to include it here ProLifeDC Are you really saying a New Republic reporter would be hostile to someone pro-choice? I'm only focusing on Kissling, an outspoken pro-choice leader who we all can agree is very much against the programs that Yoest has promoted. It is a misrepresentation of Kissling to include only praise, even guarded praise, for Yoest. Binksternet (talk) 01:25, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Positions?

In the article it references: "In 1996 Deborah Shaw Lewis and Yoest co-authored Mother in the Middle, an examination of United States childcare policy.[6]" and in the next section states: "Yoest earned a Ph.D. in politics at University of Virginia in 2004, writing a dissertation on the politics of parental leave." Perhaps we should have a short section or at least a sentence or two on each of these works? What does Mother in the Middle say about childcare policy? What does her PhD dissertation say? Any valid reason NOT to characterize Americans United for Life as "pro-life"?

I had a little back-and-forth with an admin on 3 May 2017 about the description of Americans United for Life in the opening paragraph. I changed it from "anti-abortion group" to "pro-life group" and the admin reverted my edits. Twice. With a threat of sanctions. The AUL article itself describes it as "an American pro-life public interest law firm and advocacy group." I've looked around wikipedia-ville and found some discussions (actually a LOT of discussions) about the terminology to be used to describe people and organizations on the two sides of the debate over abortion. In my research, I didn't find any outright prohibition on the use of the term "pro-life." Is there such a guideline? Thanks in advance.Bro rick (talk) 17:22, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Change "Early Life" section to "Early Life and Education"

Delete "policy analyst" and "conservative Christian activist group"" Yoest was born to Gilbert L. Crouse, Sr., a government economist, and Janice Shaw Crouse, a speechwriter for President George H. W. Bush and Senior Fellow at the Concerned Women for America.[3]
