I propose that Dee Errikson be merged into Charles Erickson because: a list called "Washburn Notables" on Washburn University's website has a picture that matches the picture on the 2015–16 Washbrun Basketball media guide (pg. 133), which matches what is in the Charles Erickson article. The Washburn Athletics Dept. spells it Errikson, but Washburn University spells it Erickson. The WU Hall of Fame shows Charles Errikson, as well as the Ottawa Football All-Time Coaching Records. Newspapers.com does not find an Errikson, but does show a lot of results for a Charles (or Dee) Erickson at both of these institutions. This article and this article show "Charles 'Dee' Erickson". This article shows Erickson. Ericsson's last football season at Ottawa University was in 1935, and started at Washburn in 1936 for both football and basketball. Dee seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Don't build the Frankenstein is always the main concern. However, this obit ref from the Charles WP article ties together the Ottawa football coach with the Washburn AD and basketball coach. I haven't seen an article yet that says the Washburn basketball coach is the same as their football coach, but it should be a very safe assumption based on having the same name, roughly the same tenure, and the fact that the AD had a football background.—Bagumba (talk) 03:08, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I hate to do OR, but extra research is needed, in my opinion, when something like this comes up. There is this article that says he's leaving OU for WU for both fball and ball to begin July 1. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 03:52, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
It doesnt prove he's that same person as Washburn's varsity football coach LOL.—Bagumba (talk) 03:57, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Haha! Here is this article that shows a possible replacement for Dee Erickson as he "devotes his entire time to athletic directorship and coaching basketball"... I'm obviously convinced they're the same person! We've just got to decide on which is the correct spelling! 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 15:06, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Merge I'm good with Corky's good-faith research.--Paul McDonald (talk) 18:16, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Suggestion - Corky, get CanadianPaul, Connormah, Cbl62 or one of the other guys who are good at running Social Security death records searches to see if they can't resolve the surname spelling issues for you, and provide a reliable source for DOB and DOD. CanadianPaul and Connormah always love a good mystery. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:29, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
