I thought Charles Emerson Beecher was notable for a page of his own because:

The person has held a major highest-level elected or appointed academic post at an academic institution or major academic society. Effectively, head of earth science at Yale.
Continuing studies (which he initiated) at the site named after him have provided some of the best preserved examples of trilobite anatomy in the world.
Beecher was one of the first ~~(?the first)~~ paleontologist to rigorously describe trilobite ventral anatomy (legs).
He died young, yet had an impact in his field and was promoted rapidly (a big brain of his times).
