Merchant edit

Come on, he has a cult following. This should be noted —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.232.242.232 (talk) 10:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

We're still working on adding a 'Reception' section to this article. There'll hopefully be mention of the Merchant's appearances in gaming culture media. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  14:46, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Saddler edit

Should there be a note or something small saying that you can kill him without the special rocket launcher and keep it to sell later?207.5.195.216 10:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

That comes under game advice, and isn't allowed on WP. Geoff B 12:58, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would agree that keeping the rocket launcher for selling later is game advice, but surely the fact that it is not necessary to use the rocket launcher to kill Saddler means that the text, as it is, is misleading? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.220.127 (talkcontribs)

It says that he has converted the local populus to the Los Illuminados faith, but all the in game evidence that I have found would lead me to believe otherwise. Specificly, the in game document Butler Memo says that Saddler took advantage of Salazar's faith in Los Illuminados to have him order the excavation of the Plagas. The tone of the note would even imply that the butler himself is a devout follower. If other memos are concidered as well, it would seem that the religion has existed for several generations, and that it's use of the plagas was just hampered by the castellans. Verdugo edit

On the main RE4 site from capcom it shows a picture of Mendez and says 'Verdugo', does this warrant a change?207.5.195.216 01:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's no concrete conformations that I've seen but he is very much like a Verdugo when you think about it.-- 72.84.249.13 03:22, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism edit

This page just got mass vandalized by a few idiots. I recommend warning or banning those with an account and semi-protecting it.Dali 19:59, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Osmund Saddler edit

When Saddler impales Luis, he has a long barbed tentacle, when you fight him in the end battle, I didn't notice a long, barbed tentacle. I did notice a lot of flailing short tentacles though. PhotoNikonMan 13:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unless it was one of Saddler's legs or his neck thing. PhotoNikonMan 12:11, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps he was evolving into his spider form when he killed Sera and the changes were complete by the time you fought him in the end.207.5.195.216 01:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

It seems to me it was one of his spider feet. But, him being able to reform all of his compressed body mass wouldn't be out of the question, after all, he transforms from a chubby-ish but average man to a giant spider creature. Gopherbassist (talk) 05:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

In response to Photonikonman's note about Saddler not using a long, barbed tentacle save in that cutscene, Saddler also uses the impale attack he uses against Luis Sera against Ada Wong in Seperate Ways. 70.172.249.59 (talk) 16:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't Leon on this list? edit

He's a character in Resident Evil 4, correct? Soniczip 13:41, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

He has a small section, which has a link to the main Leon page. Vilerocks 00:24, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

question edit

why have the page been all groped together it was better when everyone had their own page --The brown curse 02:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because they don't have enough information to warrant a seperate page for them PhotoNikonMan 12:15, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

yeah but we find out more like i found out about ashleys suplex glitch when it was alone--The brown curse 04:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suplex glitch? is that where Leon's gun goes through her? PhotoNikonMan 13:25, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think he's referring to being able to perform a suplex as Ashley. Which doesn't count as character information. Geoff B 13:35, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

it is a trivia besides the grouping does not really give much information when they were alone i learned alot about them--The brown curse 22:00, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

where the hell did u put leon?! he's the most important

who put that comment on top i sure do not know--The brown curse 20:31, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ramon Salazar's Age edit

In the article it says he is 20, but if I remember correctly, he says that he is 12 PhotoNikonMan 07:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Erm... I read the player's guide, and I think it said he was actually 40, granted, it's been 3 months since I last looked at it. Vilerocks 00:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, in the game, after being called an "old man" by Leon, he directly states that he is only 12 years old. TH3 R34P3R 14:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and fixed that TH3 R34P3R 14:08, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Whoever keeps changing his age back to 20 should stop. They are also screwing other parts of this page up, which I keep fixing. Seriously, this is not a joke, if you want to destroy something, find a different website. TH3 R34P3R 14:10, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was playing the game today, and I can guarantee you he says his age is 20 years old. On that note, do you think it may be worth adding he may have a form of progeria? --134.219.164.8 07:07, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok look i beat the game 7 times(6in normal and 1 in pro).i quote Salazar said "did you say old man Mr.kennedy? this may come as a surprise to you but i am only 12 years old" anyone who says otherwise probably wasnt paying attention. Or maybe your TV has a bad audio output

No, he definitely says he's 20. I can very clearly hear him say "twen-tee." And frankly, in all my time reading internet discussions on this game, this is the only time I've ever seen anyone claim he's 12. I think you just need to listen more carefully. --Foot Dragoon 12:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

He's right in the Wii version he absloutely says that he's 20 years of age.--72.84.249.13 03:21, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I always heard 20 Jackkrauser09 (talk) 14:25, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS2 version always says 20. Are you playing the US version? Gopherbassist (talk) 04:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mendez edit

Should we post his history because some do, but it gets deleted.

heres all you need to now about him. hes 7 feet tall, has a false eye, harbors a plaga which is like sort of a centipede, hes strong and fast, and hes the villages cheif.

Fan site as a source edit

Dengarde, please illustrate why the concrete website cannot be used as a source. The fact that it's a fan site is not enough.--Svetovid 17:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it pretty much is. Fansites are usually just repeats of existing information, plus speculation. But thats not really the reason. The sourced statement is "In addition, the "Ada's Report" documentary expands on Krauser's role in the storyline.". The game is enough of a source for that, I'd like to think that people are smart enough to figure that out by playing the game. And last, the site stated as the source, [1] doesn't even prove that Adas Report expands on his role. It's simply a list for random information that irrelevant to the statement it's sourcing. All that we are doing by keeping the site in the article, is advertising it. DengardeComplaints 18:39, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
How did you figure that it sources only the last sentence?--Svetovid 00:38, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Because the reference is placed at the end if that sentence. If it sources something else in the article that can't be proven just by playing the game, show me exactly what is is, where the site sources it, and then properly place the tag in the correct spot.DengardeComplaints 00:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jack Krauser edit

I edited the paragraph to say "at one time he could have been a friend of Leon". No where in the game does it say he was. If I am mistaken, please tell me where. Jackkrauser09 (talk) 14:23, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

As a general rule, it's best to avoid assumptions such "could have" unless they seem important and are supported by reliable sources. So I removed it altogether.--Svetovid (talk) 14:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alright, my bad. Thank you for that though. Jackkrauser09 (talk) 14:32, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I think they mentioned that Krauser apparantly a "Training buddy" of Kennedy, so I'm guessing that's what was mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.242.91 (talk) 12:56, 26 December 2008 (UTC) Weedle McHairybug (talk) 01:16, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Krauser and Rolento edit

Has anyone else notticed the simmilarities between Jack Krauser and Final Fight/Street Fighter's Rolento? I've noticed that Capcom as a company has a habit of recycling things, and Resident Evil's existance can be attributed to this as it was inspired by Sweet Home or wahtever that game was called. I was wondering if there are enough cases of Capcom's reusing of ideas to warrant pointing out the parralels and referencing this tendancy. Gopherbassist (talk) 05:03, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ashley Graham edit

Alright, question. Why is it deemed that the last sentence in Ashley's section is necessary? It's the random opinion of some insignificant person (because I doubt that the author of the article is Diego Luna) and its inclusion in the section makes it seem like serious business. It seems more like an advertisement for the pretty small-time website. Also, I'm quite sure that Wikipedia is supposed to remain neutral, not advocate an opinion. RetroPacmanStyle (talk) 03:26, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The last sentence is the lone real-world commentary from a "notable" source. The POV policy does not apply to the comments of outside sources, unless of course there is a blatantly one-sided representation in an article. furthermore, please see the notability policy, specifically the "WP:NNC" section. The comment will likely be removed and placed into a more appropriate section in a later draft. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  03:34, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why is the real-world commentary at all necessary? RetroPacmanStyle (talk) 4:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
See WP:WAF; the Wikipedia's manual of style that deals with writing articles with fictional subjects. If you need further explanation leave a comment on my talk page. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  05:17, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
We could use a shitload more real-world commentray in virtually every single Resi article. Geoff B (talk) 11:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing Game Events edit

Excusez moi ignorance, but do we have to source things that happen in the game? Leon's showdown with Saddler, etc. I mean, isn't the game a good enough reference?80.5.143.72 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 10:45, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please read, WP:A, WP:Cite, and WP:OR. You cannot really cite the game itself to verify a confrontation between two characters.--  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  15:42, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nationality of Characters & Location edit

Um, since the area is obviously in Spain even though it isn't mentioned (but various clues such as Policia, Pueblo, and the usage of various Spanish words support the idea), doesn't mean that Spanish would be replaced by European. It's not like that there are Spanish villages that seem to be from a hundred years before in other places in Europe. Guys, it seems so absurd to call the people here European as if every person in a country in Europe must be called European instead of their sovereign state. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silenthill addict (talkcontribs) 13:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Capcom have stated that the games doesn't take place in Spain, so if you want to change it you're going to need a pretty good source.Mr T (Based) (talk) 14:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, Capcom has never explicitly stated where the game is set. While it is almost implied that the game is set in Spain, stating so without proper citations would violate WP:OR and WP:SYN. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  19:10, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Plot section? edit

Didn't there used to be a plot section, or was I hallucinating? If there wasn't, shouldn't we add one? PeRiDoTs13 (talk) 08:50, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maybe you were thinking of Resident Evil 4#Plot? Do you have a specific revision that you were thinking of? Plot sections do not necessarily belong in a Character article. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  17:24, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whoops, I was totally looking at the wrong article when I posted this section. Sorry about that. PeRiDoTs13 (talk) 04:40, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
No Prob :p --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  04:48, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: "The Merchant" edit

Right. This section: "The merchant was an important support character as he provided Leon with guns and supplies. At a price of course. He is one of the people who were not infected with the Plagas for an unknown reason. He appears at several spots throughout the game providing newer items for sale as the game progresses. He has a house on the lake. This isolation may be why he was not infected. He does not appear when enimies are in the area."

"The merchant was an important support character" needs a source. Provide one, or stop adding the info. The rest of it is also speculative and badly written: "thie isolation may be why was not infected" sounds like original research and "he has a house on the lake" is unnecessary detail (if you think it's not, please add some qualifying information. "At a price of course" is not the appropriate formal, neutral tone expected of an encyclopaedia. I will presently be removing the information. Please discuss here, provide suitable sources, or whatever. Please don't edit war, especially reverting as vandalism. bridies (talk) 19:17, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The IP is one I have added to a sockpuppet case here. Geoff B (talk) 19:23, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Krauser moving. edit

We may have to move Krauser to the list of characters of the Resident Evil series. Seeing how Krauser was kinda confirmed to be appearing in Darkside Chronicles (as evidenced here:

http://gza.gameriot.com/content/images/view_355771_1_1244072548.jpg)

He's definitely gonna have to move from the characters in resident evil 4 section to at least the List of Characters in Resident Evil, seeing how he's no longer going to be a RE4 exclusive character. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 01:14, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are going to need much more than a picture to confirm that Krauser will make an in the Darkside Chronicles. A proper source, ex an article, interview, or official video, are the only things that could back this up - see WP:Reliable Source for more information. The picture in question does not offer much details, especially since the figure in question is obscured and could be any character. Unless there is a reliable source to confirm who it actually is - it would be considered "original research" to claim it is Krauser. On a side note, The figure looks very similar to the blond character speaking to Sergei at the end of Ada's level in RE:UC - but that's just my opinion. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  01:30, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

That guy was not Krauser. Krauser never had an oxygen tube plugged to his nose. It's likely that guy talking to Sergei was Spencer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.106.50.102 (talk) 17:44, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

What oxygen tube? I don't even see an outline of one. I do see a tube on the neck, but that's more like the bronchial tubes/muscles related to the tubes that one always finds on a person's neck. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 22:34, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
EDIT: Oh, wait, never mind, you were talking about the man sergei was talking to, not the man in the picture. Also, if you guys look closely at his... er... left eye, one can notice a scar on there, which pretty much confirms Krauser. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 23:20, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
After comparing the silhouette to a hi-res image of a Krauser action figure, there are some some similarities between the two. It may very well be Jack, but we cannot say so on Wikipedia until Capcom, or a RS confirms this. We had similar situation a year or two ago on the Resident Evil 5 article, when editors disputed whether the game's protagonist was going to be Billy Coen or Redfield based on the First E3 trailer. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  16:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, seeing how he's been confirmed since 1UP's article, he needs to move to the Resident Evil Characters list, seeing how he's no longer a Resident Evil 4 exclusive character. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 00:48, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

About the Merchant edit

I think that the Merchant section should mention the fact that he is also infected with a Plaga. 201.254.74.29 (talk) 22:53, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
