Opening date

I would like to give a more exact opening date than a simple "1993". Unfortunately, the station isn't listed in Butt, which is supposed to be correct to end of 1994. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:13, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Name

National Rail shows the station as "Chafford Hundred Lakeside" and c2c's timetable shows "Chafford Hundred (Lakeside)". --TBM10 (talk) 09:39, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

@Sunil060902: Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (UK stations), the name should be what the station's signage actually says. Do you have evidence that the word "Lakeside" is no longer shown? --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 23:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello Redrose64 and all. I wanted to see for myself, so visited the station today, for the first time since the Pandemic. I have already uploaded some pics to Wikimedia Commons, [1], and I reproduce thumbnails below.

  Chafford Hundred platform sign, saying, in small font, "for Lakeside" (ie. not an unusual case at all for a station sign saying "for Somewhere Else"

  Welcome to Chafford Hundred station sign in c2c "house" style (no "Lakeside")

So, an open and shut case, right? Except for this one sign (just one!), in National Rail "house" style:

Opening date

I wonder if the page at http://www.basildon.com/history/railway/railway.html is good enough to reference the opening date as 26 May 1995? --Minoa (talk) 19:10, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

I've seen 30th May 1995 in Joe Brown's London Railway Atlas, though he also says in the index that there was a "ceremony" on the 29th. Presumably no passenger trains ran that day. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 16:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC).
