Xscape edit

Anyone fancy adding a short para about Xscape in the style of the Hub:MK article? --Concrete Cowboy 17:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well I added one line, but it's really too hot to think right now ;) — sjorford++ 17:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Xscape has own article, two pictures, room for expansion and looks nice so preferably don't merge it. The Hub was fine but Xscape wouldn't be. User:Tom walker 20:31 GMT 15 August 2006

Near advertising edit

I'm sure the links to Jaipur and La Hind were made in good faith but it takes us too close to advertising them which is contrary to policy. I've had to revert. --Concrete Cowboy 17:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Parish stuff edit

Well, I know that in 1974 the 3 urban districts became unparished areas, whilst the Newport Pagnell Rural District parishes continued in existence. From inspection of maps it appears most of the city centre of MK was in Woolstone parish. Did this ever become unparished or did this arrangement continue in existence until 2001 and the reorganisation? Morwen - Talk 15:07, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Right, I have a list of parishes in MK borough in 1981 : from the 1981 census. giving pops for ones with >1000 pop, and the pop in 1971

not been able to find a similar list in the 1991 census yet (above 17:33, 4 September 2006 194.66.226.95 )

Should this stuff not be moved to talk:Milton Keynes (borough)? --Concrete Cowboy 19:02, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
You are probably right. Morwen - Talk 19:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infobox for CMK??? edit

CMK is just another district of MK, even though it is the central one. It is completely inappropriate to use the standard free-standing settlement info box. Do we have one for Central Birmingham or Central Bristol?

The ONS pop figures for "Central Milton Keynes" are for a census supernumeration district that is far larger than the CMK district. It is completely misleading to use these.

I have deleted the infobox pending further discussion. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:39, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

According to 1. the article lead, 2. the template of parishes in Milton Keynes, 3. the List of civil parishes in Buckinghamshire, 4. the Milton Keynes Borough Site including this map here, 5. ONS, - Central Milton Keynes CP and 6. Milton Keynes Observatory, which is updated constantly it is designated as a Civil Parish just like all the other parishes of MK It may also be a ward of the Borough Council and is known as a district too but that is another matter.
I think the removal of the info box without any evidence to back this action up was a little premature So unless there is something to hand which discredits all of these sources, which I have been using to check facts and stats out, I would propose the info box is restored. Civil Parish edit

Given that Central Milton Keynes is more than a settlement, wouldn't it make sense to include the land area and population of the civil parish in the infobox? If the article is written correctly, it'd seem that "Central Milton Keynes" isn't just a settlement like in other parts of the country, but it's actually a local government, if even just a small one. --Criticalthinker (talk) 01:43, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Photos by "John Chryslar" edit

I notice that several photos by Flickr user "John Chryslar" [1] have been uploaded and are in use for Central Milton Keynes articles. This Flickr user has participated in a hoax with dishonestly photoshopped images (see Admin noticeboard, Noticeboard on Commons for details). Has anyone noticed anything strange or suspicious about their Milton Keynes related photos? -- Infrogmation (talk) 15:56, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

The colours are a bit lurid and arty-farty, but no obvious fakery that I can see (though the colours on the Jury's hotel pic look as fake as Trump's tan). But the montage needs a review: I have just replaced a the "ooh, look at me, I've got a 500mm telephoto lens" pic of Xscape with a more normal one. If anyone has taken a pic towards the Point from the top floor of Hotel La Tour, would they replace the present technicolour yawn, please? --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:24, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Commons has now banned contributor "John Chryslar" and pictures uploaded from their account are being deleted (see for example Commons:Deletion requests/File:Milton Keynes Theatre district restaurants.jpg. Anticipating the remainder of their pics being deleted, I have replaced the ones used in this article. --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 12:18, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
