Talk:Cedar Street subway

The NERL/NCS extension line uses the Raymond Street tunnel and a tunnel constructed under Mulberry St., not the Cedar St. Subway tunnel. Oh nevermind

What this article doesn't specify is where this tunnel is. Neither by stations nor by streets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tlantanu (talkcontribs) 22:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, the new light rail does not use any part of the Cedar St subway, so I removed that. This article is now so short that I propose it be removed. The name could link to the Public Service Terminal page, and one or two paragraphs there would cover whatever there is to say about it. I have added some text there. While the new(er) Broad Street branch of the NLR doesn't use the tunnel, per se, there is a aspect of it that does tie into the Cedar Street Subway. While the Cedar St tunnel did originally end at the old Public Service building, it was later extended to junction with the City Subway so that the routes could continue to Newark Penn Station. While the Cedar St tunnel was severed by the demolition of the old Public Service building and replacement with the current PSE&G building on the same site, the flying junction that was built to connect the Cedar St Subway with the City Subway as part of that extension to Newark Penn Station was repurposed to connect the new Broad Street branch to Penn. Tbat this article doesn't even mention that the Cedar St. Subway was extended to Penn, let alone the reuse of that junction, means it is incomplete and inadequate. oknazevad (talk) 03:06, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
