Australian Idol edit

Can there be a note on the Casey Donovan of Australian Idol website scandal? :D 124.168.71.15 02:35, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article on the Australian Idol singer already contains references to this scandal, and the disambiguation page Casey Donovan links to the article in the Aussie singer. It's not relevant here, I would argue. - Tim1965 (talk) 16:14, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Casey2.jpg edit

Image:Casey2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:52, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA review edit

I've reviewed this article using the Good Article criteria, and found that it passes that criteria.

  1. The article is well-written, with clear and direct prose and verb-tense. The lead is well-written and places the article in context, the layout contains appropriate section breaks, there is no jargon, and it avoids weasel-words.
  2. The article provides independent, verifiable references (as best as can be obtained for this type of article). Sources are cited in accordance with the style guide for inline citations and full bibliographic references. There are no direct quotations, statistics, opinions, or counter-intuitive or controversial statements to source. The article contains no original research.
  3. It is broad in its coverage, addressing the performer's early life, entry into adult film, subsequent adult film career, post-porn career, and death. All major aspects of the topic are covered without going into unnecessary detail. The article clearly is neutral in tone (especially where it discusses Donovan's HIV status and barebacking activities) and stable.
  4. The article is well-illustrated, and the non-free image used is adequately tagged as to copyright status with a fair-use rationale provided. The image is also adequately captioned.

Several improvements can be made if this article is to reach Feature Article status. The primary need is for additional independent, verifiable sources. These might include reviews of his work in New York City theatre; citations to, quotes from, and information gleaned his numerous interviews; information gleaned from interviews with directors and performers with whom he worked (Manshots magazine is a particularly rich source for this); and other works about gay culture. Areas which might need fleshing out are: his early life; his personal life (including his long romantic relationship with novelist Tom Tryon); and his reaction to his own work. Some additional prose reworking should also occur, to make the tone slightly more formal and to choose a few better adjectives or descriptors. At least one color image needs to be found for this article to reach Featured status. - Tim1965 20:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Biography edit

I believe that the notation of Casey Donovan's role in The Opening of Misty Beethoven being non-sexual is in error. My aging videotape of that movie shows him as sort of a "stunt asshole" standing in for the actor playing magazine publisher Lawrence Lehman, whom Misty is supposed to be pegging (i.e. buggering with a strap-on dildo) I realize that this scene has been cut from some later tapes, but it was in the original movie and the DVD from VCA includes the scene. Dick Kimball (talk) 08:52, 12 July 2009 (UTC) David Bret: In this film, Casey plays a gay art dealer, whom Misty (Constance Money) is given the task of turning straight. Thus they have penetrative sex, as can be seen in the DVD release.Reply

About his page's name edit

  • I think this page should changed to Calvin Culver. Because Casey Donovan it's not his official name and even in imdb they use Calvin Culver not Casey Donovan. 114.25.251.47 (talk) 06:47, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

(actor)/(pornographic actor) RfC edit

An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?). Article uses IMDB numerous times as a source for biographical information: these will need to be verified by another source and replaced. Z1720 (talk) 22:50, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
