Requested move edit

Carrefour de L'EstrieCarrefour de l'Estrie — This article is propose for renaming to Carrefour de l'Estrie. I wanted to move the article and there was an error that the move is not working. On the main article there is an small "l" to make the word "l'Estrie" and this is to match the French Wikipedia article. The French Wikipedia main article says "l'Estrie" to make the title "Carrefour de l'Estrie". And this title should be renamed to match the French Wikipedia Main article. - Steam5 (talk) 06:23, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Comment - This article is to match the French Wikipedia article. Also, there is a small "l" on this article. Steam5 (talk) 18:54, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • For what it's worth, correct capitalization rules for French names support the move; l' is merely a contraction of the definite article "le" or "la", and just means "the" (which isn't capitalized in English, either, if it's in the middle of the title). And per WP:CANSTYLE, the rule is that when we are using a French-language title instead of an English one on a Quebec-related article, we use the correct French spelling. That said, the fact that it's the title of the article on fr: isn't directly relevant to the decision, except insofar as it's a reflection of the same rule being applied there. That said, the only reason the move didn't work for Steam5 is that there's already a redirect with an edit history from the correct spelling to this one — meaning that the process of moving a page overtop of the existing redirect is, in a strictly technical sense, a deletion of the redirect, and thus requires admin rights. I'm going to go ahead and move the page; debate isn't really necessary on a straight spelling correction. Bearcat (talk) 06:06, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
