Talk:CarbonFix Standard

Hi - I have noticed that the page I keep editing has been the subject of edits from other authors. Every time I improve the page to include links, improve the text, someone changes it back... Please explain your reasons for doing this! I would also like if you refer to other similar organisations which have similar text but has not been subject to editing attacks.. (e.g. Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance wiki page).... Please explain in detail your reasons for attacking this page, as in my opinion, the links are correct, the text is not bias Wiki-Mich (talk) 09:16, 10 May 2010 (UTC) wiki-michReply

The edits which are intoducing more links (which appear to be fine) are also reintroducing copyrighted text. There are no issues with you improving the article, but previously published copyrighted text may not be used unless permission from the copyright holder has been verified. If you are attempting to introduce text which is close, but not exactly, like copyrighted text, please remember that close paraphrases are still a copyright violation. Dear VernoWhitney...what if the text I am using (such as uni reports) is not copyrighted? and if they are hardcopy reports? If I am just referencing them then I would need no copyright licence to use them, as I am not directly copying the article... Please advise..Wiki-Mich (talk)wiki-mich —Preceding undated comment added 09:18, 21 May 2010 (UTC).Reply

If you are just referencing them to support something that you are writing in your own words then it doesn't matter if they're copyrighted or not. If you are using their words then you should be aware that once it's published (i.e., printed in the case of hardcopy reports), it is automatically copyrighted. They would have to be explicitly releasing it into the public domain or a compatible license in order for you to use their text directly. VernoWhitney (talk) 12:41, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks vernowhitney. Most of the references I am using would then not need any copyright licence. Thanks for clearing that up & thanks for your comments on the wiki page! Wiki-Mich (talk) 13:47, 21 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok, clearly something is being lost in translation here. You just added (for example) a portion about preconditions which states

Preconditions: The CarbonFix Standard sets preconditions to ensure that tree planting activities are only taking place on land which contains no previous forest. Furthermore, only projects which require the additional financial means from the sale of CO2 credits will become certified. This concept is known as additionality.

http://www.carbonfix.info/CarbonFix-Standard/Structure.html states

The CarbonFix Standard sets preconditions to ensure that tree planting activities are only taking place on areas where there was no forest before. Furthermore, only projects which require the additional financial means from the sale of CO2credits to implement their project will become certified, also known as additionality.

This almost word-for-word from your source which clearly states "© 2010 CarbonFix e.V.". Unless you have permission from the copyright holders to release this content under our licenses, this is a copyright violation and the text must be removed. If you do not remove all of the copyrighted text I will. I don't believe this is intentional, but I must tell you that if you persist in uploading copyrighted material you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Hi Edward321. You changed this page again even though the text is referenced and there is no bia. Could you please explain your reasons? Also please refer to other pages (such as the climate, community & biodiversity alliance wiki page which has similar text which you deleted on this one...78.51.170.203 (talk) 11:30, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry VernoWhitney. I didn't realise. Thanks for picking that up :) Wiki-Mich (talk) 08:48, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
