Born 1858, Photographed 1860? edit

According to the article, Caran d'Ache was born in 1858, and died "at the age of 50" in 1909. The accompanying photograph, however, was apparently taken in 1860. For a two-year-old he looks remarkably good. As the article's assertions of both his birth year and age at death match, I'd be willing to bet that either the photograph was dated inaccurately , or if the year it was taken is indeed correct, that the photograph isn't of Caran d'Ache at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.197.6.95 (talk) 22:44, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Encyclopedia Universalis has 1859 and 1909 as birth, respectively death dates for Caran d'Ache. Reference: Marc Thivolet, ″Caran d'Ache Emmanuel Poiré dit (1859-1909)″, Encyclopædia Universalis, on line, retrieved 2014.12.20, http://www.universalis.fr/encyclopedie/caran-d-ache/.
The portrait of Caran d'Ache on his Wikipedia page is slide nr. 240-942 form the Nadar studio photographic collection, housed at the Architecture and Heritage Multimedia Library, of the French Ministry of Cultre and Communication. An inscription on the slide reads Mr. Caran d'Ache and the catalog dates the picture to 1890 (several portraits of him are present in the collection). The attribution is to the Nadar studio, the photographer being either Nadar (Félix Tournachon) or his son, also Nadar (Paul Tournachon).
