Drain edit

In April 2006 the Drain (Waterloo to Bank) is shutting for 5 months. I'm going to suggest that a service from Waterloo East to Cannon Street would make a handy substitute.

It could either be a dedicated shuttle, if possible using a turn-back option between Waterloo East and Charing Cross, or at peak hours running existing ECS and outbound trains from Charing Cross via Cannon Street, so that they skip a path around the Thameslink services. The reverse flow and possibly off-peak passengers would go via London Bridge, and in the evening peak the position would reverse - ECS and other services going in 'empty' to form peak hour trains from Charing Cross would run from or via Cannon Street with passengers to Waterloo East.

Could this work - I don't have a good knowledge of the WTT and track & signalling in the area to be absolutely certain of this.

CCTV Cameras edit

A chap I knew said Cannon Street Station will have more CCTV cameras than some towns. On looking - if they are small towns - he might be right. Certainly each entry or exit appears to have a dozen or more, with many others scattered across the public spaces. Are the staff subjected to such intrusive monitoring? Worth including in the main article - or just a facet of life in London, UK, after the Blair/Brown government? Autochthony queried. 20110303_2205z.81.132.188.132 (talk) 22:04, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Number of platorms edit

The text talks about there originally being eight platforms and subsequently talks about the number of platforms being reduced from nine to eight. However it's not explained when the number of platforms was increased from eight to nine. I think that the history described at https://www.kentrail.org.uk/London%20Cannon%20Street%202.htm is accurate but I don't disagree with user Mattdaviesfsic that this source may fail WP:SPS. Can anybody provide an alternate reference to the number of platforms being increased from eight to nine? Thanks, Zin92 (talk) 05:30, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
