I'm also a student at the Catholic University of Leuven. I can understand you haven't seen or heard from the calotte because it is a hat that was worn by FRENCH catholic students. The Flemish students wore a hat named 'klak' or 'verbondspet', like the ones KVHV wear until this day. When the french speaking students were relocated to Louvain-la-neuve in 1968, the calotte disappeared from the streets of Leuven. Bobertadella (talk) 17:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
Being a student in the Belgian University of Leuven, I never even heard of this alleged student custom, until I came across the "À bas la calotte" song. What universities "of Ghent" and "Liège" ? Both are public institutions where a penne is used instead of the calotte. PCC7500 (talk) 23:20, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
