# of deaths

In the graphic there is a plus of 0.01 per cent in the last day. That is wrong! Correct is 0.00 per cent. This failure should be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.73.116.124 (talk) 10:17, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Has there once again - for the third time - the system of death counts changed? Why do ECDC report a death count of +1623 for 2020-11-04, while the usual death toll per day is between +200 and +400? --Traut (talk) 10:07, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Spain is also using antibody tests to diagnose "new" cases of SARS-COV-2 infection, the recent increase in cases may be exaggerated

Spain bizarrely uses both RT-PCR and antibody tests to diagnose "new" SARS-COV-2 infections, despite the fact that antibody tests only identify past infections. By August 17, Spain conducted 5,367,311 PCR and 2,164,063 rapid antibody tests, a grand total of "7,955,615 diagnostic tests for COVID-19".[1]

The increase in infections (125,799),[2] seen since mid-July may be largely attributed to antibody testing. This appears plausible, as despite a large increase in reported infections, deaths have not kept pace. There were 383 new deaths since July 17, this resulted in the Case Fatality Rate plummeting from 7% to 0.3%.

Also, antibody testing indicates that 5.2% of Spanish caught SARS-COV-2 by June.[3] As a result, the recent increase in infections could be entirely generated by conducting ca. 2.5 million antibody tests and counting all positive results as new infections. Recall how many tests they conducted, 2,164,063.

This has left Spanish perplexed and given sceptics material to question the threat posed by COVID-19. It may be prudent to explain this data quality issue in the article. --Diamonddavej (talk) 03:30, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Anti-body tests can indeed be used to diagnose ongoing or recent infection if they are for IgM type anti-bodies. Ruslik_Zero 12:45, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
If you don't trust the case numbers, check the death count. --Traut (talk) 05:52, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
