C. elegans (disambiguation)List of species named C. elegans – This is a set-index article, not a disambiguation page. If it's to be kept as a disambiguation page, it will require extensive editing for compliance with MOS:DAB. --BDD (talk) 21:32, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Kill SIAs with fire. I'd rather leave this be incompliant with MOS:DAB, and I don't find "List of things named X" to be an encyclopedic topic. IAR and all that. No such user (talk) 10:50, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • If scientists, to save a bit of typing, keep shortening the model round worm's name Caenorhabditis elegans to C.elegans, presuming that "everybody knows" what is meant, it will annoy and confuse people who know more about some other of the many species named C... elegans. This list, like all disambiguation pages, is not encyclopedic as such, but it is necessary to help people to find the information that they need, when they find an unexplained mention of "C. elegans" and wonder which of many species it is. (Compare the annoying and confusing habit of some lepidopterists of referring to butterfly species by their specific names alone with no genus name, not even an initial.) • I can draft a proper disambiguation page if users want this to remain as such. While I've spoken out against SIAs myself, as long as they're distinct entities, this page is currently an SIA regardless of title. --BDD (talk) 17:26, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Ah, I've missed this discussion. Yes, a name like the one proposed by BDD would obviously have been more in line with what the article looks like at present. Trying to convert it into another format to save the bad title would be a cosmic waster of time, and any mention of "volunteering" to do so is I hope only a figure of speech. – Uanfala 15:49, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
