Buttercup also a name for Narcissus edit

I wanted to mention here, because there is no place I found a mention of it at wikipedia, that in parts of the United States, narcissus flowers are often referred to as "buttercups". Although some people and sources state that this usage is wrong, it is widespread in at least the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Arkansas. Ohio State University has a Plant List web page which mentions buttercup as an alternate name: http://www.hcs.ohio-state.edu/hcs/TMI/Plantlist/narcissus.html Is the Ohio State University web page, a good enough source that this usage of buttercup can be listed on this disambiguation page? Thanks. Fallendarling (talk) 17:08, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and added a link to the Narcissus page on the disambiguation page. I think the Ohio State Univ website having the name "Buttercup" listed as an alternate name for Narcissus, combined with how I grew up only knowing narcissus to be called "buttercup", was enough justification. I do hope someone can find a reliable printed source for this though -- I will be on the lookout for one too. Fallendarling (talk) 17:49, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
