First all metal multi engine type? edit
There is at least one aircraft that fits this description and predates the Burnelli by several years. That is the three engine Junkers J23/G23, first flown in September 1924. See, for example Anthony Kaye's book Junkers Aircraft & Engines (Putnam 2004), pp47-54. Fitted with Junkers rather than Mercedes engines, the production G24/J24 version first flew in February 1925 and became the "mainstay of German air transport" in the later half of the 1920s. Junkers were all metal builders from their beginnings so obvious candidates to fit the claim, but there may be others.TSRL (talk) 08:45, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- I got that claim out of the Popular Science issue listed in the references; I'm not an aircraft expert, so I can only work with what the sources I find tell me. Brambleclawx 02:50, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- We are all prisoners of our sources; WP's no original research makes us so. W've probably all used sources that have got things wrong, which is why many heads and hands can improve articles. In that spirit, I'm about to remove the all metal claim. The undercarriage claim is interesting and I can't think of a counterexample. Some inline refs would be very help but keep bashing away at Burnellis and what else! I'll maybe do a Burnelli aircraft Template; I've added categories to your latest.
