Untitled edit

There is a problem with the "Trivia" section on this page. It lists the factoid "The city of Bunkie, Louisiana has changed its status from town to city and back again 26 times in the past 89 years. It is projected to be declared a town again in May of 2006." This is from a Gullible.info update from January 3rd, 2006, and is therefore out of date. If anyone can find a more recent statistic, that would be appreciated.--Eagleguy125 22:28, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gullible.info is a fabricated source of information, and should not be put into Wikipedia articles. Kylestoneman 20:18, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notable People edit

I added this addition to the notable people section of this article. It was removed. I have looked at the criteria and Isiah M. Warner fits the criteria of Notability in reference to academia. He has won many national awards, held chair positions, and has been accepted to prestigious clubs. But because I attend the same school, I apparently fall under a conflict of interest which caused a removal. Nothing I said was conjecture, and I added references, and can find more if needed. A simple search shows that this man did indeed come from Bunkie, and is widely considered a notable person both in academia and science.

I would support Isiah M. Warner being re-added to the notable people section. This biography seems to indicate notability. The input of others would be appreciated. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:07, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I would not support inclusion at this time. I agree, he's notable. So best practice would be to write the biography article first. Why? In order to show his notability on this page, a considerable amount of real estate will be consumed. This article is about the community as a whole and using as many words as would be required to show his notability puts too much emphasis on a single person who is only peripherally related to the story of this community. A sustainable WP:PROF article is not too tough at all. A "C" class article is a bit tougher, but you should be able to write an article that will pass WP:AFD in an hour or two. Then all you have to put in this article is his wikilinked name, a brief description of his primary notability (that would be his department chair) and his tie to the community (born, raised, currently resides, formerly resided). This is, after all, what the guidelines call for. I can see how it may have seemed this much copy was ok. In general, the notable list on this article needs pruning. I'll be happy to review a bio if you decide to go that route. Pinging Tmyers14 and Magnolia677. John from Idegon (talk) 22:29, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good point. I'll change opinion to reflect than an article should be written to confirm notability. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:55, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
