Sources edit

I am vetting the sources and collecting the relevant text in corresponding Wikiquotes page although that may not be the best place to keep the data. Since the article as I founding had highly abbreviated citations, some of the sources may be incorrect, despite my usage of standard philological abbreviations. Aristotle edit

Article gave him as mentioning bugonia, but I cannot find mention in the cited source, or other likely sources. In fact, Aristotle dismisses animal origins for bees in his Origins of Animals, and mentions only plant origins in his Physics. Furthermore, other authors make mention of his lack of acknowledgement of bugonia.

"I have already noticed above p 8 that the Greek author who was the best informed about bees Aristotle never mentions the Bugonia although he was a believer in spontaneous generation In the two works in which he treats of bees the History of Animals and On the origin of animals not a word is to be found about the origin of bees from oxen." Osten-Sacken

I am making note of this in the article. Craig Pemberton (talk) 00:59, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Talmudic references edit

Article claims both versions mention bugonia, but I was unable to find mention in the given places, although perhaps I am looking in the wrong source. I've added a fact tag until the claim can be corroborated. Craig Pemberton (talk) 01:06, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

samson and the bees edit

Why is not possible to cite the passage simply as Judges 14,14. For Jews the name Tanakh has a particular significance. For Christians the name Old Testament also has particular significance. Tanakh is not 'more' correct. It merely represents a different perspective. Pamour (talk) 14:44, 19 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
