Translation

Part of this article appears to be translated from German. "The Air-war School VII" appears to be a translation of Luftkriegeschule VII. I am not sure of the training provided in this type of school, but I would think even a general "Air Force School" VII would be preferable. "called A and B Classes" appears to be a translation of A und B Schule. In US, these would be Primary and Basic Pilot Training Schools. "double winged" for doppeldecker would be more colloquially biplane. I'd make these changes, but I'd like confirmation of the first. I've done the second and third, but in doing so, I noted one WW II aircraft type listed as the Blue 131. Is this the Bu 131 (if the u is not umlauted in English, the e is more commonly omitted in abbreviations, I believe) "Jungmann"? --Lineagegeek (talk) 11:37, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Tulln Air Base period

There are some inaccuracies here. The 1407th AAF Base Unit was part of the AAF's Air Transport Command, not a USAFE unit, and therefore was not the occupation unit. It is not related to the 7360th Base Complement Squadron (activated in July 1948, not in 1947), which also held other designations (as did the 1948 AACS). The unit section needs reorganization Currently seems to say that the 516th TCG which arrived in 1945 was at Tulln after the 313th TCG, which arrived in 1946. I'm away from hard copy sources, so I can't change myself right now and provide references, but these errors require reassesment. Lineagegeek (talk) 02:09, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Now that the article name is changed from Fliegerhorst Brumowski (its Austrian Name) to the translated Brumowski Air Base, I wonder if the article would be more appropriately under the title Tulln Air Base, which was its name when used by American forces. It would be simple to switch the redirects. If not, Tulln Air Base needs to be added to the infobox along with its Advanced Landing Ground number.--Lineagegeek (talk) 20:40, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I moved the page and was actually very, very tempted to move it to anything but Brumowski! Even the Austrian Army seldom uses these obscure air base names i.e. here: Zeltweg, Graz-Thalerhof und Hörsching and not Hinterstoisser Air Base, Nittner Air Base and Vogler Air Base.. At least for Austria I can say that the most common names are i.e. Langenlebarn and not Brumowski Air Base. I did not move the page to Langenlebarn Air Base as I know that this is neither the official name nor did I have time to establish for Austrian air bases the most WP:COMMON name. However I would appreciate a discussion to establish a WP:COMMON compatible naming convention for the Austrian air bases. Do you have any suggestions? noclador (talk) 21:40, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I'm not familiar enough with Austrian usage to make a good choice here. I would think that probably following any naming convention used by wikipedia.de concernig the choice between popular and official name would be a rational starting point. Brumowski/Tulln is unique (for Austria) in that it had a different English language name when it was used by American forces.

checked the German wiki - they go with the official names. So I guess we should keep them at "official name" Air Base on the English wiki. What do you think? noclador (talk) 22:38, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Outdated/Inaccurate information on aircraft types based at Brumowski AB

I have made some changes to the article, relating to the aircraft types based at Brumowski Air Base; read my edit summary (27 February 2021; 14:42) for further reference.

I would especially like to challenge the statement that the Agusta Bell AB206A Jet Ranger helicopter is stationed at the base, as stated in the second paragraph of the article. To the best of my knowledge, this is simply not the case and I could not find any sources whatsoever supporting this claim. To whoever created that content: Please provide adequate references to credible sources, otherwise I may delete it in the future.
