Deletion of properly sourced material relating to polar bear attack. edit

British Exploring Firstly thanks for explaining why you felt it necessary to remove all reference to the inquest verdict on the tragic death of Horatio Chapple. I had intended to expand this important item further -ensuring of course that it is fairly and accurately covered. Whilst WP:PRIVACY requires me not to assume you are associated with British Exploring Society, you may want to have a very careful look at conflict of interest, noting that it gives you contact emails if you are being unfairly treated. I don't think you're talking about the right to be forgotten and frankly I find it hard to believe your claim :-

  • Following the inquest verdict on 18th July 2014, where a “no negligence” verdict was released, for legal reasons British Exploring Society are required to remove all content regarding this incident from all media channels

A UK judge -not a mere coroner- very occasionally issues instructions about subjudice ahead of a trial ..but the implementation is left to the website. I haven't seen any reference to such an unusual request or any sign of it being implemented. I intend to reinstate the edit. If you have a legitimate problem with this, feel free to contact Wikipedia. This would also stop other editors from adding it. If however you simply decide to revert without further explanation of the 'legal problems' -I will request administrative help. Regards JRPG (talk) 16:24, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Length of article and neutrality. edit

Br1t0n, I have to agree with 331dot that the original article was overly promotional -and I have to say too long. Wikipedia is not intended to be comprehensive even with all the references. I note that this the only article you edit and if you are associated with or paid by BES you may have a WP:Conflict of interest which you would need to declare.
You don't need to give a list of expedition leaders, most of whom are not wp:notable The easy way to reduce the article length would be to cite the country and dates visited. As someone who studies accidents, I was shocked by the 2011 events which according to UK papers was completely preventable even though there were no criminal prosecutions. I would like to see an honest reference to this -not just the current glossing over and what appears to be a somewhat disingenuous change of organisation name. Also an indication of what steps have been taken to prevent another repeat. If that happens then I will believe the article is for educational and not commercial purposes and a potentially valuable contribution to this encyclopaedia which others including myself would be delighted to help expand.
Feel free to ask for any further help e.g. on photographs -on this page

@Br1t0n: Hi. I temporarily reverted your change but intend to add wp:rs material back in. I'll also expand the charity work section. Something is needed following the very well publicised inquest verdict to state what the society has done to improve safety -including what risk assessments it carries out. An appropriate link to the society's own website would be acceptable. Can you help? Regards JRPG (talk) 22:31, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
