Having the characteristics of a shiny jewel.

isn't that slightly unprofessional? I would like to see a page on 'brilliance' of a gemstone.

brilliance characterizes a radiation source. cf.: http://www.europhysicsnews.com/full/26/article4/article4.html

Sometimes brilliance refers to spectral radiance of laser sources, especially from the german origin, where "Brillanz" is a unit of brightness combined with spectrally narrow-ness.
