The film is not a remake edit

Rowan Joffe has said in interviews (see: [1]) that he was asked to remake the previous film and refused to do so, but after re-reading the novel he fell in love with it and decided to do a new adaptation of the novel. So the prior film is not a source for this new adaptation, thus it is not a remake. Many journalists have called it a "remake" either because they just assumed it was a remake or because they (wrongly) assume that the mere existence of a prior film, even if it is not a source for the new film, makes the term "remake" accurate.
