Andy Kaufman edit

Brain's style of "humor" reminds me a lot of that used by Andy Kaufman. Perhaps a link to that more popular comedian - for term of reference - could be incorporated into the article? Yea? Ney?

I agree totally, and was thinking of posting such until I saw this very identical thought here. If Clevinger was not influenced by Kaufman, I'd swear he's the reincarnation.

Notable relatives edit

Is Michael J. Novosel Sr. the grandfather of webcomic artist Brian Clevinger? I ask this because of this edit. Now in all likelihood why would someone make that up, right. However I'd like to be certain so I am asking that someone out there please verify this statement. I have removed it from the Novosel article until then. While I'm not touching anything, please note the Andy Kaufman question above. Is there any proof OUTSIDE the 8-bit Theater site? If Clevinger is emulating and/or influenced by Kaufman, doing a "hoax" and keeping to it for a long duration (or never even revealing it) might be an "inside joke."
I doubt there's any proof outside the site. I doubt it's a joke, though. The guy wasn't famous, and it was only after Clevinger mentioned him on his website that anyone even made an article on him. I suspect he wouldn't even be on wikipedia if not for Brian Clevinger.
I think, not 100% sure, that you can see Brian sitting at the funeral. 2nd photo from bottom, middle row, 2nd from right bahamut0013 16:02, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, that's my Uncle John, who looks remarkably like me. If you look above him, there's a man standing and taking a picture. My face is obscured by his elbow. Doesn't really help. Kurosen (talk) 17:20, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Field of Battle edit

In the news entries for all the field of battle comics starting with this one, Clevinger had the blurb about how it was "a little known war story from our latest military effort. It's the true story of a small unit of soldiers from all walks of life and how they cope with the frankly unreal circumstances that have come to define their every day lives." He goes on to say it was "related to me via e-mail by a very loyal and long time 8BT reader who is, to this day, very far from home." Is this all a joke? If it is, I can see how Field of Battle is an FPS parody, but if not, it seems almost insulting to refer to it as such. --137.229.63.171 (talk) 03:35, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you read the comics, you will get the distinct odor or satire. There is no way that the story, as told, actually ever happened. Perhaps the roots come from a truth, but when I read it, I think for more of Battlefield 2 than I do of real combat. bahamut0013 11:21, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Yeah, he's joking. He's a comic, he does that.
Yeah, I figured most of the actual interactions were faked. It's obviously not "a true story" as he claims. But it still doesn't seem like he'd give that little blurb when starting it, lie about it, and not say that it was a lie.
I'll go with the middle ground you've chosen, though. And yeah, with the sniper kit thing, I can see how it makes sense. Thank you. --137.229.62.203 (talk) 17:26, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Birthday edit

Birthday once listed as May 7, once as June 7. Only one could be correct.ssl 18:44, 25 April 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sslandy (talkcontribs)
