POV tag edit

Unfortunately, I have had to add a POV tag to this article for the following reasons:

  • The article predominately cites a POV pushing university thesis.
  • WP:EXTRAORDINARY and WP:NPOV text scattered throughout the article, in particular:
This chrysobull demonstrates the wider phenomenon of Albanian settlements and their Catholic churches within the Dukagjini area being given to Slav Orthodox churches/monasteries as property for economic exploitation. Scholars, in particular Gaspër Gjini, have proven that many of Kosovo's Catholic churches were usurped by Serbian Kings in the Middle Ages and were subsequently gifted to Slav Orthodox churches. Entire Albanian villages were gifted by Serbian kings, particularly Stefan Dušan, as presents to the Serbian monastery of Deçan, as well as those of Prizren and Tetova.
The inhabitants during the Middle Ages were Albanian Christians of the Catholic rite, as was the case with the other settlements in the Gjakova region. ElderZamzam (talk) 22:17, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have previously countered claims such as this on Deçan by the same user - I am still awaiting another response. This user seems to have a habit of creating disputes and not following them through completely - see the talkpages of Deçan and Mic Sokoli, for example. This is disruptive. As I have already stated, there are multiple sources which state the same thing; Albanian villages were given as fiefs to Serbian Orthodox monasteries, and that their Catholic (as northern Albanians were Catholic during this time) churches were usurped. Said sources can be brought in. This is not POV, it is a reality. What does violate WP:NPOV, however, is your usage of Pavle Ivic. Ivic was among the main authors of the 1986 SANU Memorandum, in which he, alongside historians such as Vasilije Krestić and Radovan Samardžić referred to a "genocide" being committed against Serbs by Albanians and Croats in Yugoslavia, and that "The Serbian Question cannot be resolved without the full national and cultural unity of the Serb people". Using authors like this is counterproductive to the betterment of this article and Wikipedia in general. Botushali (talk) 22:35, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest editors be more careful about the way they use sources. SANU memorandum committee members, SOC archpriests and Pan-Slavic nationalists are avoided as sources for a reason. Besides that I would suggest users be more careful about the words they use. Phrases like "proven", "usurped" etc can be viewed as not being NPOV. The line is often times very blurry, but its what has worked to keep wiki a fairly neutral encyclopedia throughout the years. Alltan (talk) 14:16, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Alltan, do you have a link to a ruling that SANU memorandum committee members, SOC archpriests and Pan-Slavic nationalists are avoided as sources for a reason.? If yes then please attach it for future reference, if you do not have a link then your recent edits has not helped with the neutrality of this article and has put undue weight exclusively to Albanian sourced material. I would suggest you read WP:NPOV and WP:RS. Alltan (talk) 15:58, 17 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
