Talk:Boston Celtics Radio Network

Latest comment: 8 years ago by Stereorock in topic Page Not Up to Date

I think this page is very over-linked. At the very least, I want to remove the multiple links to the same article on, say, Boston. My preference would be to remove all the links that point to articles about a specific city - I don't think information about a city is needed to understand this article, nor do I think information about a city is likely to be desired by the likely readers of this article. The External Link to the "Celtics Radio Network" points to a dead page and an "access denied" message on the WEEI site. WEEI is no longer the flagship of the network (and right now it is rumored WBZ-FM may announce a deal with the Celtics any day now). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anthrocoon (talkcontribs) 15:34, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Page Not Up to Date edit

So I came here and copied the station affiliates from the Sports Hub for the network. For some reason they got changed back to the out of date listings (including someone saying the games still air on WVEI in Providence which I know for a fact does not air them). Any reason why the page went back to the old affiliates. 96.230.44.50 (talk) 02:30, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

The information you used from the Celtics (as well as Patriots & Bruins) is not entirely correct. Often times, the team radio network pages list stations by markets or some closeby big city instead of their actual communities of license. They also omit parts of callsigns (like -FM suffixes on stations that have them: see what you did for "WEAN" instead of the proper legal WEAN-FM for an example), or add things that the FCC doesn't (like -AM suffixes, which NO U.S. A.M. station is assigned. All A.M. & shortwave stations have 3- or 4-letter callsigns only). It is easier to just revert & start anew, rather than all of the fixes it would've taken to fix what was wrong with what you posted (like moving WCPV out of the New York list & into Burlington, when WCPV is NOT licensed to Burlington). The network lists aren't always accurate & extra attention to detail has to be made (like looking up the callsigns on the FCC queries). For example, sometimes a station is listed on both A.M. & F.M., but the station is in actuality an A.M. station with an F.M. translator. The translator data (callsign, its own community of license) has to be found out & added separate from the parent A.M. station & then noted as to which station is its parent.Stereorock (talk) 04:52, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Also, WVEI is 1440 in Springfield, Massachusetts. WVEI-FM is what you are referencing.Stereorock (talk) 04:52, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
