Marc Heitmeier

I'm pretty sure Marc Heitmeier is still in the squad, squad number 26; or was he transferred to another club? 58.168.59.213 09:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Dates & dashes

En dashes should be used in scorelines and only full dates and dates with a day and month should be wikilinked, including in the footnotes. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dashes) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). Epbr123 20:46, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

After reviewing the style manual links you provided: the wikilinking of years appears to be something that is up in the air and looks to depend on the preference of various editors; there is no reference at all to the use of dashes in sports scores that I could see - the use of a colon is a common convention in German football, and so can at least be said to fit the context in the absence of a hard and fast rule. ??? How is it pronounced?

I've heard a number of (English Language) sports desk journalists pronounce the team name "bo - rouge - ah" (accent on the 2nd syllable) however, whilst visiting Dortmund recently, a number of local (German speaking) fans I spoke with pronounced it "bo - rue - zee - ah" (accent on the 3rd syllable)... leaving me to ask the question "how is it really pronounced? - or, more accurately, how should it be pronounced?". Presumably, what is true for Dortmund is true for nearby team Borussia Monchengladbach? Ndsci 04:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, you always pronounce the second syllable, no matter which team it is, and end with a "ja" sound. However, if you "sing" it, it can get 4 syllables with a long aaah! at the end. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.48.139.149 (talk) 16:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, the pronunciation requires seperate sounds for the letters i and a, so bo-rue-zee-ah is more accurate. The pronunciation differs from the English pronunciation of "Russia", e.g. Madcynic (talk) 00:03, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Borussia Dortmund (super cup 2008)

This was only an inoffical super cup, see [1] or [2] for example. German press also said that there was disagreement because the DFL did not agree to a super cup (see [3]). So stop adding this to the honours list. --Jaellee (talk) 06:18, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Is it really useful to have a famous coaches section? There are no criteria about who is famous and why. Also the next section is the coaches' timeline, therefore i propose to just abandon this section. OdinFK (talk) 08:42, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Agree. Remove the section. Hubschrauber729 (talk) 20:36, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Stadium

Someone with better knowledge of the english language then myself should add that the club is famous for the great athmosphere in its stadium 'Westfalenstadion' (Signal-Iduna-Park). It was even named europes best soccer stadium by The Times. BvB is nothing without its fans, the live and breathe soccer, the whole 600k-people city is basicaly built around the club ;-) Please add that info. The article isnt complete without it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westfalenstadion#cite_note-3 Evans, Tony (2009-08-09). National titles

1955–56, 1956–57, 1962–63, 1994–95, 1995–96, 2001–02

This is stated in the article, but the Bundesliga was established in the season 1963/1964 so the first 3 german championships were not in Bundesliga Championships. And Borussia Dortmund has won 3 national Titles in the Bundesliga(and 3 before the Bundesliga was established), with 6 they would have 2 stars.--84.46.64.105 (talk) 03:16, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

"Der Klassiker"

Dortmund vs. Bayern is by far not the only game in Germany called a "Klassiker". See e.g. http://www.dfb.de/news/de/dfb-pokal/viertelfinale-hamburg-im-klassiker-gegen-bayern/49777.html on Hamburg vs. Bayern or http://www.dfb.de/index.php?id=511739&tx_dfbnews_pi1%5BshowUid%5D=53134&tx_dfbnews_pi4%5Bcat%5D=71 on Gladbach vs. Bayern. An edit of mine referring to the problem by pointing out that for this reason a random German football fan would not regard a specific game as the Klassiker was reverted last summer, however. I'll try it again now. --Scherben (talk) 19:36, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

I'll take this one. Kosack (talk) 19:12, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

Foundation and early years

  • "Father Dewald was blocked at the door", we could do with more explanation as to who Dewald was as he's mentioned her with no real context.
  • Only one source is included in this section and it ends midway through the first paragraph. There's also a cita3needed tag here.

Crest

  • I'm not sure the use of the former club badges in a gallery would qualify under the fair-use criteria.

Organisation and finance

  • Do we really need an annual breakdown on the club's finances? Not to mention it only covers a five year span.

Affiliated clubs

  • I'm not sure on the relevance of this section, certainly not in its current form. It has little actual prose and is just repeating the basic information for each link.

Training ground

  • This section is scoring quite strongly on the copyvio tool and there seems to be some clear copy and pasting of two parts.

Records

  • This section is a bit of a jumble really with no obvious inclusion criteria or sourcing in places. For example, "On 1 September 1993, BVB and Dynamo Dresden earned a total of five red cards between them", has no real explanation. Also, entries like "The first goal ever scored in Bundesliga play was by Dortmund's Friedhelm Konietzka against Werder Bremen" are not really records.

References

  • Some of the overall formatting of refs is a little muddled here.
  • Notes (like ref 42) should really be placed in a standalone section rather than included in the references.
  • Avoid shouting in ref titles, per WP:ALLCAPS.
  • There are three refs, 31, 32 and 33, that all have the same title and no further info.

Hi Brotato, thanks for taking up a nomination. However, it's important to familarise yourself with the GA criteria to ensure an article is ready when you nominate it. For example, the sourcing here is rather weak, the majority of the history section is seemingly unsourced and there is even a citation needed tag on the text. Unfortunately, there are too many concerns for this to really be promoted from a single review so I'll be failing this. I've listed some of the major points above, to give you something to work towards. If you have any questions then please feel free to contact me. Kosack (talk) 19:38, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

Recent revision by Jaellee

Still learning. I would have thought that pointing out that BD is the Bundesliga's second most successful club all time is worthy of being included in the intro as it helps position the club in the hierarchy of German football clubs and complements the references to its position among the 'richest'. Can you explain why you Jaellee deeem this less relevant than BD being the second largest club by members in Germany? I have now included this under another section but still curious is to why it should not be relevant upfront. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Londonfan1 (talkcontribs) 17:31, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Why do you believe that success in the Bundesliga is measured by the ranking in the all-time Bundesliga table? In the media, this all-time table is hardly ever mentioned and mostly irrelevant. Success is more often counted by the number of titles won. --Jaellee (talk) 10:29, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
