I'm no good at working out pronunciations in IPA, so could someone produce an accurate indication of "Erewash"? Just to avoid that unfortunate "Ear-wash" confusion... :-) Cheers, DWaterson 19:08, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Erewash pronouned differently to River Erewash? edit

I noticed that the pronunciation key for the town, Erewash is: (/ˈɛrəwɒʃ/ ^ⓘ), but the pronunciation key for the river, River Erewash is: /ˈɛrɪˌwɒʃ/. I don't know which one is most accurate either way, but I wanted to highlight the discrepancy in case it needs changing. Richard n 00:14, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Erewash → Borough of Erewash – Per WP:NATURAL and WP:COMMONNAME the district is usually called "Erewash District"[1] or "Borough of Erewash" in a generic context even though "Erewash" is the preferred label by the OS, presumably when its clear from the context that you're referring to the district. The district is named after the River Erewash and this move is consistent with WP:UKDISTRICTS ("Non-metropolitan districts with local ambiguity...". Views [[2]] show that Erewash (UK Parliament constituency) gets nearly as many, among others. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:00, 1 October 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.
