Behavioral Ecology Edit edit

Made edits in the paragraph structure of “life cycle and nesting” as well as “reproduction” and to word and tense choice (differ over diverge). Minor edits of Behavior section — Preceding unsigned comment added by JSDavis2 (talkcontribs) 19:45, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

This article is probably close to being a good article. You already have a description and taxonomy section which is great. I made a few small edits. --I changed B. ternarius to Bombus ternarius because wikipedia prefers that the name is consistent throughout the article. --I removed some "biased" statements like, "It is interesting" because I think the tone should remain neutral. This was not a huge issue. --I am a little confused about your use of "bumblebee." Do you use bumblebee when referring to characteristics of B. ternarius or the Genus? If so it might be better to use the Genus name instead of bumblebee, --I removed some of the hyperlinks that did not lead to complete pages. There were few of these. --Overall good job. • Expand the introduction to comprise some of the major points of the article
  • The physical description section is very good.
  • Life cycle and nesting: if there are already two articles on the bee colony cycle and nesting, how necessary is this section?
  • The first word of section headers, and any proper noun in a header, are the only words capitalized within the header.
  • Don't use an ampersand ("&"). Say "and."
  • I found your sentence "For all hymenopterans, sex is determined by the number of chromosomes an individual possesses" to be very confusing. After reading the cited article, I recommend you reword this sentence to make it more clear.
  • Should the main article under eusociality really point to dominance hierarchy? Those are different, albeit related, concepts.
  • Fix the few grammatical errors that remain.
  • Consider moving the name section to the top.
  • Overall, this is a very good article. Fix the few things that need it, and you should be well on your way.

This bumble bee is present at my house just outside of Sedro Woolley, WA where they are feeding on my hummingbird feeders. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.113.140.253 (talk) 14:55, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
