Talk:Blue John Cavern

Crossover with Fluorite#Blue John

Some of the information here (particularly the paragraph about similar minerals from around the world, but also some of the information about the etymology) would seem to sit better in the section on Blue John in the Fluorite article, as it's not particularly about the Blue John Cavern. If Blue John (the mineral) had its own article, I'd definitely split out some of the material. What do others think? Dave.Dunford (talk) 18:55, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I've just read this article, and at the end (before I read the above comment) I thought to myself that it didn't really say very much about the cavern, but instead gave a fair bit of detail about Blue John. Hence although I'm coming at it from the opposite direction, I'm inclined to agree with the above - ie streamline some of the detail about Blue John, and preferably also expand info about the actual cavern. I've been bold and created a new article in place of the existing Derbyshire Blue John article (which previously redirected to the relevant section of the Fluorite article), combining material from that article with the material from here that applied to the mineral rather than the cave. The Terror of Blue John Gap

Nobody seems to know that this cave is the protagonist of a terror tale by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, "The Terror of Blue John Gap" (1912)? I am not a native English, but some English-speaker should add this to the text.
