burglarized??? edit

Surely that is not a real word?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.22.237.2 (talk) 16:14, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

That's exactly what I was going to comment on. An example of a word there is absolutely no need for when one (burgled) already exists. Guv2006 (talk) 08:38, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Burglarized is by far the more common form in US English, while in the UK it's reversed. It should be noted that the word burglar preceded the words burgle and burglarize by several centuries. Adding an -ize suffix is a perfectly standard way of turning a noun into a verb: Hospitalize, unionize, prioritize. The only reason it may sound a little strange is because the original word ends in r. Even then, there are words ending in r constructed the same way: Familiarize, mesmerize, bowdlerize.

Although it isn't wrong, I see no reason for the article to have been changed. 50.135.209.86 (talk) 10:54, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am changing Burglarized. Jamesthecat (talk) 02:06, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've changed my mind. Looks as if burglarized is an actual word. Jamesthecat (talk) 02:11, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes it is... and for that matter, the word "robbers" needs to be changed to "burglars". Burglary is done when the victim is not present. Robbers take things directly from the victim in person, usually while threatening them with a weapon. So these people were burglars, not robbers. 192.54.250.11 (talk) 16:45, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Oh yes, it's an actual word though, personally, I would be suspicious of the validity of any encyclopaedia which used it. Guv2006 (talk) 08:40, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Since this article is written about an American subject, it should use American English variations. Per Wiktionary, "burglarize" is the most common North American word for the action of committing the crime of burglary. "Burgle" is more common in the UK and some former Commonwealth countries. I have replaced every instance with "burglarize" per WP:ENGVAR. Please do not change it back without discussing. Ivanvector (talk) 15:25, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Nick Prugo section plus edit

Zoloft is for depression, not anxiety. And nobody has said "Hooked on drugs" since the 1970s (should be "chemical dependency" or "substance abuse" or the like, rather than dated misanthropic slang).

Is it actually important to point out that Tess was adopted?

It is stated "Lee was reported to have instantly turned hysterical, acting as though she were suddenly sick", However the original Vanity Fair states "becoming nearly hysterical, physically ill, and gagging", saying nothing about acting.

Burglarized is more common to the US but burgled is less sensational/more encyclopedic. Tangverse (talk) 13:36, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Cast of The Bling Ring edit

The names in the Film depictions section don't seem to match up with The_Bling_Ring#Cast. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 15:04, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Didn't two of the perps have their own reality TV show? Maikel (talk) 10:20, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
