Disambiguation edit

I think this page should be moved to Blender (disambiguation) and the Blender (device) page should take its place as most people who search for blender will be looking for the device. Yonatan talk 17:00, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is now as you say. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:20, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

This may be worth revisiting, the Blender software page now has 4-5x the pageviews of Blender (device), despite Blender redirecting here... Mlkj (talk) 15:25, 25 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Other countries discovered outside the US shock! edit

"When television made its debut in 1949..." It made its debut in the 1930s in the UK.

"This commercial, which ran for several years in many markets, made the blender a household word." Nope, we used to call them liquidisers, they've only been known as blenders more recently.

"A filmed version of this early infomercial holds a special place in the Direct Marketing Association archives." There is I think a UK DMA, but I rather doubt the advert has any special place there.

And "Infomercial" may currently be too slangy a word to use in an encyclopaedia.

You're still reeling from the shock of finding out that the US is not the only country on earth, aren't you? 80.0.110.97 (talk) 23:59, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the comments. I cleaned up the passage about which you commented. The consensus right now is to use the term "blender" in favor of liquidiser, but that could change if someone started a discussion which decided to do that. I added a reference to what I could about the paid television presentation and removed the unreferenced content. "Infomercial" is a term used on Wikipedia so it seems appropriate to me. Sorry for the six year delay in replying - I had to think of a good response. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:18, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Babies? edit

Applications Blenders are used both in home and commercial kitchens for various purposes:

to mix and crush ice in cocktails such as the Zombie, Piña Colada and frozen margaritas to crush ice and other ingredients in non-alcoholic drinks such as Frappucinos and smoothies to emulsify mixtures to make smooth purées of semi-solid ingredients, such as cooked vegetables and meat to reduce small solids such as spices and seeds to powder or nut butters to blend mixtures of powders, granules, and/or liquids thoroughly to help dissolve solids into liquids to get rid of babies __

This article could be improved if it listed the required wattage for crushing ice, or nuts, and other common foods. I can't find this information easily with a Google search. Kkettner 21:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
