The right to privacy and free education? I believe so yes. Also, what if a child enrolls in a school who has lost their hands in an accident for example? --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 11:35, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Misconeptions edit

The misconceptions section is very one-sided and the only reference refers to a technology manufacturers white paper. I fear we need some npov sources.

The misconceptions section also states that templates cannot be reverse engineered. This is simply not true, with access to an enrolled template it has been proven many times that the minutiae can be reverse-engineered to create a fingerprint that would, at least, fool a biometric scanner (granted, the reconstructed image won't really fool a human, but biometric scanners primarily look for specific minutiae). With access to the original template generation algorithm it can be even easier to reverse engineer. Just something worth considering. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.107.151.122 (talk) 19:32, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

A statement in Misconceptions section is factually incorrect. Given access to the algorithm and the output, it is possible to state with certainty which (if any) of a set of fingerprints was capable of producing the result. This must be the case for the system to function. Therefore, it is wrong to say the data is useless to police and third parties. I endorse the above calls for this section to be re-written to a neutral standard. Jaseoldboss (talk) 18:50, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
