Undertaker taught Wight the chokeslam????

"Wight and The Undertaker twice won the WWF Tag Team Championship.[6] During this time, he also learnt the Choke-slam move from the Undertaker."

This is blatently incorrect. He has used the chokeslam his entire career, including his run in WCW. I have edited the article accordingly. HDC7777 (talk) 15:43, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

You are the guy who said "This was a false rumour that was started to catch out Dave Lagana (who was part of creative). He was suspected of leaking news to the dirt-sheets, so he (and he alone) was given the false rumour of a Big Show return to see if it would get leaked. It was, and Lagana was released from his contract.". Which was a complete lie you made up. As he obviously did return. So can you cite your source about the chokeslam? Can't rely on people who have a record of coming up with false information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.251.229.70 (talk) 09:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

He's coming back to WWE real soon.

FACT! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.166.165 (talk) 17:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Maybe so but currently it is just speculation. (Will not be added to article)--TrUcO9311 TaLk / SiGn 17:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
To the editor screaming "FACT!" I would say that even Wrestling Observer, alleged source of this rumour (although I have yet to see anything other than fansite links) have not confirmed anything more than he might be signing a contract in the near future. Read this: Wikipedia:BLP#Reliable_sources. It is a non-negotiable policy. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 17:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

This is ridiculous. There are references that confirm this. This is just stupid you're deleting references by which something is confirmed. Other articles have references for future events but do they get deleted? NO!.--EclipseSSD (talk) 17:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Umm, no Wrestling Observer is not a reliable source, if you keep adding it the page will be full protected.TrUcO9311 TaLk / SiGn 18:04, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Eclipse, look at Wikipedia:BLP#Reliable_sources. None of these sources are reliable because they all just claim that another source claims that Paul Wight may be signing with WWE some time soon. C'mon, you know we have to go by the rules. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 18:09, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry you guys. We probably should wait until WWE itself has an official announcement to make. It would be good to see him return though.--EclipseSSD (talk) 18:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

like someone else said the WO haven't said that he has signed just that a multi-time world champion will be returning, Ron Killings is a multi time NWA champion so they could feasibly be refering to him, as for waiting until the WWE announce it, i'm sure Jericho was re-added befor WWE mentioned it as they never announced who it was.Skitzo (talk) 19:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Unless it is announced by either party via an official source then it is still just speculation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.45.117.138 (talk) 22:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

PWtorch.com just put up a news story saying Wight resigned with WWE and will be put on tv within 2 or 3 weeks. He has also dropped more weight! January 16 this was posted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.88.24 (talk) 10:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

PWtorch.com =/= reliable source. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 16:43, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I have heard all the rumors but I have seen no good references. I want to believe it but I cant. I hope he does re-sign with WWE soon but I dont see it happening. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.147.89 (talk) 04:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Look at these links. [1], [2], [3]. It seems that he will return. Do you think this is enough sources of information to put on his article?--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:52, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Not reliable. And I've requested Full-Protection on this article, citing BLP concerns. D.M.N. (talk) 19:53, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That's just ridiculous. Why? He's already signed the deal and according to sources, officially back on the roster. However, we can just wait until WWE makes an official announcement, but I really don't see the point of Full-page protection. But you can do whatever you want, if it's probably best for the article.--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Full protection is unjustified. yes we need to wait for a reliable source before we add it, but it hasn't been hit that much that it needs full protection. With the number of us who have this article on watchlist, we are able to revert it fast.LessThanClippers (talk) 19:49, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what constitutes as reliable but I saw this article, came over and thought I'd drop it in the discussion before putting it up, not realising what a palarva was going on> [4]. Do with it what you will. Tony2Times (talk) 00:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I think that link is pretty reliable and should be added, but, looking at all the discussion, it might be best to wait for WWE to officially announce his comeback, though it seems very likely he will make a comeback after all these sources.--EclipseSSD (talk) 15:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Pwtorch.com, who gets official information from WWE, reported that the Big Show was back stage Monday night on RAW. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.197.182.230 (talk) 04:25, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
So, they just say that. We don't know if that is a true statement, PWtorch is like any other dirt sheet website...--TrUCo9311 15:32, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

This was a false rumour that was started to catch out Dave Lagana (who was part of creative). He was suspected of leaking news to the dirt-sheets, so he (and he alone) was given the false rumour of a Big Show return to see if it would get leaked. It was, and Lagana was released from his contract. HDC7777 (talk) 16:16, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Can you back that up with references and sources? All the other links, including [5], [6], [7], [8] and this, [9] seem to point to the contrary. Both him and Chris Harris have been training down at Florida Championship Wrestling before they head down to WWE. [10]--EclipseSSD (talk) 17:10, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

What the hell? You don't need a link to a great white shark after "Paul 'The Great' Wight". What a stupid encyclopedia. Someone edit it (I cant because im not registered). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.207.157.120 (talk) 17:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes excellent reply, why not address the issue at hand instead of ignoring it? And users can attack poor editing all they want, after all, that's what Wikipedia is, a collection of editors works. You'll need a reliable source for that. --LAX 11:41, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

would the fact that he said on tv that he has lost 110lb not be a reliable source? most of our sources are from wwe television or wwe.com. so would this not count?Black6989 (talk) 12:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Black6989

It looks like someone just put his weight at 392, 500-108. I don't personally believe this to be accurate, cause 500 was always just an abbreviation, he's been 49x, 50x, 51x... There's no way to know what to reference it off of. 3pointswish (talk) 22:25, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
That 500lbs weight was just the billed weight that he was in WWE, regardless of his real weight. He was always marked around the 400+ pounds in WWE probably because he is so big.--EclipseSSD (talk) 14:44, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

His WWE.com profile says that he's 399 lb. ([11]) Blackmachismo131 (talk) 01:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, that's what his profile says now.--EclipseSSD (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Wait a minute, they pushed his weight up to 450lbs. What was that about? I mean, one minute he's billed as 399lbs, the next he goes up to 450. What is WWE thinking?--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:03, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

On 10th March RAW during the weigh in they said he was 441.4lbs. Adam Adster95 (talk) 13:36, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

But his profile on WWE.com says 450lbs. They keep changing it like his height. 4 years ago he was billed at 7 ft 2, then 7 ft and sometimes 7 ft 4 (in a couple of articles).--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:42, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

2008 In two headers

I didn't want to edit, because I see an edit war starting, but I notice that 2008 is mention in WWE and again the Return to WWE. Also, I think we need some form of consensus as a whole. Some articles separate federations, others do it chronologicaly. What is the WP:PW consensus on this, or is there one yet? Thanks, LessThanClippers (talk) 18:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, first of all it needs to be fixed. Second of all, the consensus should be that the return be put under the WWE header. Why would you put a section (that belongs under the WWE header) in a different content (Table of contents)? If you check Chris Jericho as an example, we put his return right back under the WWE header. Look at Chris Harris he went to fight in an indy NWA territory for a while, but he returned to TNA, and we put it back under the TNA header. The consensus here is for it to remain under the WWE header. (IMO)TrUCo9311 18:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Jericho and Harris are poor examples. Look at Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Jeff Jarrett (this could go on for a while). They have left the WWF/WCW and their pages are in chronological order. Jericho didn't go anywhere. --Endless Dan 18:55, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
What Endless states is true. it seems that returns are only in the same heading of each promotion if the wretler doesnt join another promotion. Big show wrestles at the clash of legends. so therefore going by other articles should it not be after this date?Black6989 (talk) 23:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Black6989

I removed what was obviously vandalism. The paragraph was full of poor grammar and offensive language. I did not actually add anything I only removed the vandalism. kjrjr —Preceding comment was added at 02:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Champion on each brand?

I was thinking about adding this after he stated it at No Way Out 2008 however looking into his history i can't recollect him being a raw champion. He won the wwe championship from Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series however he won this on smackdown making him a smackdown champion. also he won the wwf champion ship in 1999 but at the time it wasnt for a seperate brand, and most recently he won the ECW Championship, but this inly makes him a smackdown and ecw champion. anyways my point is. if we can find this is true should we add it and does anyone have any info on whether this is true or not?Black6989 (talk) 23:17, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Black6989

Not important/notable. WWE makes their wrestlers brag about their accomplishments, to make the promo/shoot look good. --TrUCo9311 23:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
What about the fact that if it were true he'd be the first and so far only man to do this?Black6989 (talk) 23:22, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Black6989
That's all trivial. The brands in WWE aren't important. Now winning the ECW, WCW, and WWE are important. For instance, Edge has won all titles (that he is able to win minus the ECW) in the WWE. BUt we still don't add it.--TrUCo9311 01:25, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
They are very important. They hold separate trademarks. They are distinct television shows. They just happen to be run by WWE. Saying they are not important is like saying MS Windows and MS Xbox 360 aren't important, they are just two pieces of intellectual property owned by MS. Well, RAW, Smackdown and ECW are the three major pieces of property owned by WWE. Highly important. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.251.229.70 (talk) 23:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Wow talk about comparing apples and orangatangs... those are so unrelated... LessThanClippers (talk) 20:44, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
It's not like the individual championships (like the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship) are set onto any individual brand, technically; they've been switched before. He's never even held the World Heavyweight Championship, at least under that name (I guess if you wanted to be a pain u could argue since it came out of the WCW Championship, but... why). 3pointswish (talk) 03:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

weight again

should we put his weight to 414.4lb as on raw thats what it stated (or round it up)?Black6989 (talk) 01:49, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Black6989

No, since there's no source to cite. Gavyn Sykes (talk) 02:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

what do you mean theres no source? the show is the urce is it not? it was on wwe tv if you watched the show the camera showed you the weight. is that not a good enough source?Black6989 (talk) 02:43, 18 March 2008 (UTC)black6989

The weight that should be billed is 441 lbs. If you watched the March 10, 2008 episode of RAW where there was a weighing ceremony for his match against Floyd Mayweather, you would have seen this. Even the announcer for RAW (Lilian Garcia) has said 441 lbs. before Big Show faced off against Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship last night on RAW (March 17, 2008). —Preceding unsigned comment added by COOLRUNNER87 (talkcontribs) 22:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, his official weight on his profile does state that he is 441lbs, and that's the source that should be used.--EclipseSSD (talk) 19:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

His official WWE.com profile also states he is 485lbs as well Afkatk - Afro Twinky (talk) 19:18, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
He was announced as 441lbs at 'Mania. That being the most recent weight recorded, it will be used in the article. WrestleMania XXV is the source. --UnquestionableTruth-- 19:29, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Ring announcers always use random weights, never a consistent one. We need to go by a written source, which is his WWE profile, which states 485. In all honesty, Big Show does not look 441, he packed on a few pounds if you ask me since he came back at NWO 08.--Truco 19:35, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
as I said though his official WWE.com profile states 2 weights, in text it states 441 pounds and in the flash it states 485 pounds. Afkatk - Afro Twinky (talk) 11:32, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Face?

The crowed booed MayWeather at WM XXIV, and cheered Wight instead. Wight didn't use cheap tactics during the match, but MayWeather did (Brass Knuckles, Chair, and trying to get counted out). And recently, Show had a showdown with The Great Khali (who is a monster heel). Is Show a Face or is he a Heel? J.C. (talk) 04:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I do not know if this enters into the "not a forum" rule. In case it does, sorry. If it is viable to reply, I'd say WWE was probably trying to make Mayweather appear as the face and Wight as the heel, but during the build up and the actual match, the crowd's reaction ended up turning Wight face.Vicius (talk) 00:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

When The Big Show returned to WWE at No Way Out 2008, he was a rule-breaker. On the episode of Smackdown that took place after Wrestlemania 24, he became a fan-favorite when he got into an argument with The Great Khali and was attacked by Khali. Currently, he is a fan-favorite. User:Michael Whiting —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:32, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

He's 7 ft 0?

I don't think that he's 7 ft. I think he's 7 ft 2 because Kane is 7 ft 0 and Big Show is taller then Kane. The Great Khali is 7 ft 3, and Big Show is only slightly shorter then him. So, all I'm saying is that Big Show is around 7 ft 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.180.176.32 (talk) 22:02, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Just to note: Kane's really only like 6'9". He's shorter than Undertaker, who's like 6'10 1/2". But they list Kane as a 7-footer too, b/c they can. 3pointswish (talk) 07:45, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Maybe. But what counts is what the WWE is billing him at, and if he is billed at 7ft, then that's what makes it into the article. The Big Show is 7 foot 2 and weighs 500 pounds.Myname100 (talk) 02:59, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Born in Tampa Bay? I think not.

The article currently states that Wight was born in Tampa Bay, Florida. Tampa Bay is (a) a body of water, or (b) a general name for a region of Florida comprised of many cities and municipalities. I'm sure Wight was not born in the Bay itself, so it would be more accurate to state that he was born in the Tampa Bay area, or even better, to name the specific city in which he was born. I do not have this information, or I'd gladly change it myself. 67.90.21.66 (talk) 20:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

However, IMDb.com lists it as Aiken, South Carolina. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0927833/bio Further, Findarticles.com (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FCO/is_5_3/ai_81826838) also corroborates Aiken, S.C. in its reprint of an article from Wrestling Digest. So far, I'm finding about two links to Aiken for each one to Tampa, FL. For now, I'm going with Aiken, which pains me as a fellow Tampa resident.
