I came here from that "fact" and am very disappointed if that represents the standard of interest in the WikiProject Agriculture. "Pumpkin" has absolutely no scientific meaning whatsoever. It is a word commonly used in some forms of English to refer to more or less spherical, more or less orange, edible cucurbit fruits that can belong to any one of five cucurbit species.

If mixing up realms of discourse floats your boat, great, but this "fact" has no place in a reference article. What next? Rhubarb is not a fruit? Tomato is not a vegetable? C'mon. JeremyCherfas (talk) 10:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
