Updating Big Brother (Belgian TV series) edit

To make it more compatible with other Big Brother-pages on this wiki, the main Big Brother page of the Belgian Big Brother has been transformed to a series overview and history, debate and impact of the program in Flanders. The information about housemates and nominations are on the respective page of each season, which has been created. User:SmartGwen 08:53, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

– Per WP:NCTV#Non-series television: "Each episode of an on-going show usually is self-contained with little connection to other episodes, other than title, format, hosts, and other on-air personalities". They do not qualify as a "Series television" because they don't "feature recurring settings or characters, or express a unifying narrative theme" as they are not scripted shows.

If you wonder why they are at "series" is because of this despite NCTV already had this distinction mentioned.

Note: Big Brother (French TV series) → Big Brother France is because it is a disambiguation page and there is not a "Big Brother" series. Therefore "Big Brother France" is natural. (CC) Tbhotch 22:02, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • It's actually broken because these kinds of titles create standardizations in the project, and regardless if they are correct or not, people start to imitate because X article has that style. (CC) Tbhotch 01:41, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. Article title should certainly match the type of programming it is. But shouldn't this be applied to every TV reality competition too? – DarkGlow (contribstalk) 23:22, 18 March 2021 (UTC) Oppose following points made by Netoholic. – DarkGlow (contribstalk) 16:55, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose for Hindi, Malayam, Telugu, and Tamil series, because in Indian English, "programme" is the correct spelling aside from the computer program. 36.77.74.149 (talk) 00:02, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Adjusted. I couldn't find which style was used there. (CC) Tbhotch 01:41, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose as fundamental misunderstanding of WP:NCTV. Reality shows like Big Brother certainly are not "self-contained with little connection to other episodes" - the cast is generally consistent from episode to episode and there is a narrative order of presentation. WP:NCTV#Series television applies as "made of episodes which may relate part of an unfolding story, feature recurring settings or characters, or express a unifying narrative theme". Check the archives of WT:NCTV for past discussions which resulted in reality competition shows being under "(TV series)". Speedy close. -- Netoholic @ 12:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose as per Netoholic's reasoning. Regardless of format used between the different countries the episodes are edited in a way to follow storylines naturally unfolding inside the House of each season. Some countries do use a season/series long "theme" that plays into the storyline in the form of rooms, tasks/competitions, etc. Most regional variants also have the interconnected theme from season to season of "expect the unexpected" as Big Brother "can change the rules at any time." A more traditional game show has different contestants with each episode and stick to a strict set of rules. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 17:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Netoholic; also adding the program/programme confusion isn't an improvement. Each season of Big Brother features recurring cast members and plotlines, this isn't an anthology-style program. (power~enwiki, π, ν) 16:52, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
