Refs edit

It gets a lot harder to find news articles online when they're old, so I'll list the current hits from searching bestgore on Yahoo for future reference:

(The above are in order they appear, except for duplicates being moved up, as searched on June 10) Wnt (talk) 19:20, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

To these Google adds

I use "?=" above because Google seems to lump together more than exact duplicates. The categories with 4 "synonyms" sometimes claim thousands of similar hits, which I didn't pursue. Wnt (talk) 19:35, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Missing information edit

There should be information about the Anti-semitic and fascist attitude of this website and its owner, holocaust denier Mark Marek, who also condones the mass murder of Anders Behring Breivik, calling it "martyrdom": http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a74_1346182895 - Exemplary, Anti-semitic and racist lecture on http://www.bestgore.com/open-post/jews-multiculturalism-rape/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.78.115.255 (talk) 12:01, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the previous poster. edit

The guy that runs this website is a hate-filled anti-Semite. He's also Anti-US (he believes the US is completely run by "Jews"), and loves videos that show American troops getting murdered (they're "ZOGs" - part of the world-wide Zionist conspiracy!). His "criticisms" (more like an extreme Left-Wing psychosis) go far beyond Israel and Palestine and politics in general, to psychotic conspiracy theories where he justifies murder.

Here's a quote from the heartless psycho:

Whether Juba was real or not, and whether he’s one person or a few – nobody knows for sure. All we know is that there was a sniper in Iraq that took out a whole whack of ZOG mercenaries during their occupation of the country. Needless to say, a ZOG mercenary in a body bag is a good ZOG mercenary. All these twinky faggots do is rape children, abuse prisoners and secure trafficking of opiates for the ZOG cartel. It is said Juba sent more than 600 American soldiers home in a bag. This compilation of sniper kills from Iraq claims to show Juba’s work. Whether they’re all Juba’s kills is as debatable as whether Juba existed in the first place. Either way – it’s always a nice sight when a twink folds down like a sack of shit that he was.

http://www.bestgore.com/murder/iraqi-sniper-juba-compilation-kills/

The whole site is a haven for people that are racist, straight-up crazy, death-loving, left-wing crazy, right-wing crazy, etc.

neo-nazi included edit

as the two previous posters said, bestgore is soaked with neo-nazism. you cant go a few steps without falling over ZOG, zionists etc etc. for reference, here ar a few quotes: "Antifaschistische Aktion (Antifa) are an extension of Zionism, bred and financed to impose direct violence upon nationalists and patriots in countries where nationalism and patriotism still exist. Antifa support everything that’s disgusting and vile and oppose everything that’s noble and fair. There are many notable cases of Antifa fags imposing the destructive Zionist agendas by attacking patriots and nationalists."

or take this nice one: http://www.bestgore.com/holohoax/pathological-lie-holocaust-survivor/

one saption reads: Delousing Chambers – German Plan to Save the Lives of Jews and Gentiles

get this: The Auschwitz Plaques and the 6 Million Myth

and so on. That's why the neo nazi reference should be in the description mfg 2.240.207.171 (talk) 15:55, 14 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia articles are limited to reporting what has appeared in reliable sources. Calling the site neo-nazi without a cite is original research.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:20, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Also tend to concur with the person in the thread above, who wrote "The whole site is a haven for people that are racist, straight-up crazy, death-loving, left-wing crazy, right-wing crazy, etc."--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 12:12, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Excuse me, but where do you see missing cites? There is more than one, e.g. www.liveleak.com/view?i=a74_1346182895 and www.bestgore.com/open-post/jews-multiculturalism-rape (see above "Missing information"). A classical Nazi myth is also the identy of "the" Jews and the Bolsheviks, see www.bestgore.com/execution/gulags-soviet-union-jew-run-camp-extermination-christian. Citing such texts signed by the author himself should be enough far away from "original research", so you either did not read carefully enough or you should tell why and where you see original research. Is it the term "nazism"? Well, at least heavy antisemitism should be proven. See also www.bestgore.com/about/, paragraph "Why Is Best Gore so Anti-Semitic?" and - signed again by Marek himself - concerning holocaust denial the whole collection on www.bestgore.com/holohoax/--88.77.7.42 (talk) 04:50, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
When Mark Marek was arrested in July 2013, Edmonton Police Staff Sgt. Bill Clark described him as an “odd individual” who “is of the opinion that the Holocaust didn’t happen.”[14]. This is probably based on the section on the Bestgore site titled Holohoax. The primary purpose of the website is gore, but there is also a significant amount of Holocaust denial material. By sourcing, I meant mainstream newspapers etc, and there has not been much coverage of Bestgore.com except in connection with the Magnotta case. It probably is worth mentioning that there is Holocaust denial material on the site.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:18, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your quick answer. Could that mean that WP rules imply that a publication on one's own personal website - signed with the person's name - is less acceptable than a newspaper or magazine report? That would be quite a witty mistake of the rules... - What about liveleak.com and the text he published there? (http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a74_1346182895) Could that/something on a website (like that) be accepted as a reliable source? (By the way: Having a look at it could be worthwile. It is a simply mad justification of the mass murderer - "martyr" - Anders Behring Breivik and his killing of 69 young people from eye to eye, not counting the victims of the bomb attack in Oslo before. And it is signed with his name and his usual "Vincit Omnia Veritas", including some delirious hails to "the Venir", "the Aesir", "the Ancestors" and a salute "to the brave who answered the call to the path of honor and courage": "may they live in the halls of Valhalla forever".) --92.73.28.57 (talk) 00:04, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
The other sources mentioned above are primary, so it would take some original research or synthesis to use them to support the claim that Marek is a far right extremist. Marek presumably endorses the Holohoax section on his website, and this is why Canadian police described him as a person who "is of the opinion that the Holocaust didn’t happen." Since Marek is a living person, WP:BLP would apply, and statements about him would need to be sourced reliably and carefully.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 04:55, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again for your answer and information. Shouldn't a strictly descriptive citation of his utterances and theses be acceptable and an important part of information? (After all this slightly strange gentleman would go straightly to court in various European countries.) And it would also be interesting where there is the line between original research and using a sheer synonym for a number of statements someone makes. If someone says "nationalize all private enterprises and put all their bosses in prison" it is still research to name that marxism? What a pity that there is no journalist or professor who ever publically summarized all those rants about "the Jews" and them being responsible for the deaths of millions of people (Stalin was a Jew...?) and being collectively criminal in one word. Well, then it needs academic education and research to say "it's not chocolate but ..." when something is brown like Mr. Hitler's uniforms and smelling strongly. - Nevertheless: Strict citations of this person's own words without any kind of conclusion and without using a summarizing synonym should be okay as a careful and spare usage of a primary source? (no support of any claim of anyone being this or that, simply listing some typical statements of the website's author!) If not: Hopefully a lot of people read also "Talk" sections to get the information which the article has to conceal. --92.73.28.57 (talk) 07:11, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
R. v. Zundel is the famous court case in Canada about Holocaust denial. Its outcome in 1992 means that Marek's outpourings do not seem to be illegal under Canadian law (IANAL). The LiveLeak piece is a fairly routine piece of blog soapboxing, although its content may be offensive to some. The article does not say that Marek is a far right extremist or Holocaust denier, but sticks closely to what reliable secondary sources have said, mainly for WP:BLP reasons.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:43, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

neo nazi again edit

Political prisoner link edit

Not sure if this link really meets WP:EL. Marek has played the freedom of speech martyrdom card in a big way since he was arrested, but claiming that he is a political prisoner is stretching things as he is on bail, not in prison. Some of the other material relies on the BestGore website, which is a WP:SPS. Marek is convinced that he has access to The Truth™, which includes Jews lying about the Holocaust. In some countries it would be illegal to publish this material. The gore material would also be illegal to publish in some countries. Marek has had a reasonable deal from the Canadian authorities over the years, and it was the alleged murder video which caused the wheels to come off his wagon. The article should focus on this rather than Marek's claim to have been hard done by. At the moment, he is awaiting trial, and the article is giving excessive weight to Marek's protestations that he is a freedom of speech martyr. The possible future charge is WP:CRYSTALBALL and does not really need to be mentioned unless it happens.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:03, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have a very strange notion of "BLP", one which urges me to allow someone accused of a crime to give his side of the story in our article. I believe that whether it helps or hurts them, we should never muzzle the subject, but always let him have his say, give the reader a sense for how he thinks. And so I cannot approve of this wholesale reversion of my attempt to give some sense of what that is. Now I'll admit, I've prejudged that he is a political prisoner just as you've prejudged he isn't, but the point is, the site is how Marek - who has not been allowed to use a computer himself for two years while waiting for his opportunity to prove himself innocent beyond a reasonable doubt - releases his writings to the world. It is the closest thing he can have to an official web site. And it's not right to say "haha you named it the wrong thing, you can't use it, cause I don't believe what the name says". That is something very low. Wnt (talk) 18:54, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

July 2016 edit

Re this edit: it isn't in dispute that there is a load of anti-semitic material on BestGore, including looney comments from users saying that every terrorist attack there ever was is the work of the Jews. The problem is that using WP:PRIMARY and WP:OR to source this is against Wikipedia guidelines. The mainstream media has never shown much interest in BestGore other than in the context of the Luka Magnotta case, and this makes it difficult to produce secondary sourcing for wide-ranging comments about the site being anti-semitic.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:20, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

December 2017 edit

At the time of writing, Bestgore.com is online and says on the main page "Best Gore has been under sustained attack since the noon of December 15, 2017. The attack keeps paralyzing the server. We apologize for downtime this has caused." This sounds like a denial-of-service attack and it has happened before at Bestgore.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:39, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Google Censorship edit

Bestgore owner claims that Google is censoring them by means of Chrome: "Google is censoring access to our videos. Don't use their proprietary and dubious browser Chrome just because it's popular with the herd. Use an open source, user friendly and privacy respecting alternatives, like Tor or Firefox."

I think that should be mentioned here or in the article on Chrome, because site's content is obviously politically charged and insulting to many "developing" nations, which fail to educate their people and prevent all this barbaric stuff, like lynching.

--NikitaSadkov (talk) 13:29, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's WP:PRIMARY so it has some sourcing issues. I haven't tried out the site with Google Chrome, but this would be original research anyway.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:05, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I personally haven't seen Chrome blocking pages, but Firefox has this "reported attack page", sometimes blocking perfectly fine forums, possible due to somebody uploading a virus or child porn there, so the site gets blacklisted. Is there some publicly available official black list used by Chrome, with reasons why it blocks specific sites? --NikitaSadkov (talk) 18:34, 27 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't know. It's possible that some users have reported problems when attempting to access Bestgore via Chrome. There are various browser add-ons that block "bad" sites, of which BG may be listed as one.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:29, 28 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

August 2018 edit

Re this edit: the site is up for me without any problems, and the main page does not say that the site is under attack, as it has done in the past. Wikipedia articles should not say that a site is down unless it has been offline for at least 24 hours and is covered in reliable sources. It's intriguing that someone is having difficulty accessing the site. Bestgore has said that Google Chrome may block access to the site, and it is possible that other browsers or ISPs are doing this. Before saying that the site is offline again, please try to access it on a range of devices and Internet connections.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:24, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • The edit looks like some sort of browser hijacking or other malware in action. It redirects to a page saying "remove virus" or some other nonsense. It is unlikely to be Bestgore causing this problem, but one of the ads on the site might do this if the link was clicked.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:46, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bestgore is currently (as of September 2020) the biggest shock site in the world edit

Re this edit: there are serious problems with WP:V and WP:HIJACK here. Both sources are now quite old, and say nothing about the site's performance in 2020. This source from the Globe and Mail in 2013 says "It is also unsettlingly popular, with as many as 10 million viewers" while this source from Bestgore itself (less than ideal per WP:PRIMARY) says "one million unique readers a month" and "15 Million page views a month with a lot of hosted media". None of this verifies a statement like "Bestgore is currently (as of September 2020) the biggest shock site in the world". If this is re-added, it should match more closely what the sourcing says.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:03, 12 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Best gore shutdown 2020? edit

In the most recent post (November 12th) there was an edit stating that the owner of the site was preoccupied outside to run the website, as well as the company hosting the site finally cracking down and no longer allowing the posting of gore/shock material. Anyone else read that, see that, or believe that? Site has currently been down for an excess lf 4 days and counting. Is it time we call it offline? |1Falco3&#124 (talk) 06:18, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's correct that Bestgore is offline at the moment. It's also correct that Mark Marek has said that he is looking to sell the site and to end his involvement with it. However, it is hard to say if the site has gone offline permanently or is experiencing technical problems at the moment. This needs some time to see how things develop.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:34, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • In the November 12 post, Marek says "It’s never been easy to retire from active publishing, because BG has an amazing community and the support I have always received cut short all my previous attempts to leave it behind. Yet in spite of the past, my real life projects won’t lend me enough time to keep updating the site, so even though I may make a new post here and there, the website is going to a wind down mode and I will not be looking for someone to maintain it on my behalf. That being said, pursuant to the suggestion brought up last year, if you have a budget that ends with six zeroes, and would like to take over Best Gore as the new owner and run the site any way YOU like, hit me up on email and let’s talk. The large cache of several gigabytes of videos, including the original versions without watermark, of most of the material published on BestGore.com as well as thousands of those that didn’t get to be published, will be provided with the sale of the website. I will make an appearance here and there, but sooner or later I will go off grid, however comment sections, activity pages and forums will remain open for those who have access to them. Keep rocking, Mark."
This is interesting, but it is still unclear if the current outage is temporary or permanent.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:56, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Seems to me it’s temporary until sale is completed, however with the controversies that have came with the site, and the asking price of the owner, it seems highly unlikely 1. someone will purchase the site or 2. someone will purchase the site with the intention of keeping it open. Is there even a term to use for this or just keep it as defunct? |1Falco3&#124 (talk) 07:19, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's too early to say that the site is gone forever, although it does look that way unless it is sold to another operator. There is no evidence that the site was taken down by the feds or web hosts, and it seems to have been Marek's decision to call it a day.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:05, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

So, being fairly fresh to wiki editing, if the website itself, with a quote from Mark, saying if somebody wants to buy it and shoot him an offer, i couldn’t potentially use that as a source due to it not technically being a reliable source? |1Falco3&#124 (talk) 07:22, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It is WP:PRIMARY but there is no real doubt that Marek said this. Bestgore is basically a one man show run by Marek and it appears that he does not have the time, money or inclination to do it any more, something that he had already said in 2019. There is an element of WP:CRYSTAL in saying that the site is gone permanently, but if Marek wants someone to pay a six figure sum for a site that does not cover its costs through ads then it may be difficult to revive the site. It would be more accurate to say that the site might return if someone bought it, but for the time being the site is offline with little prospect of returning.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:52, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough, I’m not trying to start an argument or fight over a wikipedia page on a gore site, just trying to be as accurate as possible. I’ll leave it at this. Thank you :) |1Falco3&#124 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 13:52, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bestgore should also be listed as a hate site. edit

Several posts on the site attack people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability and religion including a section entitled the halohoax. also with posts like https://www.bestgore.com/street-fight/nigger-lover-thot-surprise-tyrone-hit-back-repeate-attack/ I dont see how it wouldnt be listed as such--Fruitloop11 (talk) 07:19, 30 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Because it’s not necessarily the point of the site. It was not primarily a hate site that posts gore. It was primarily a gore site that tends to bleed over with hate. If you look at other gore sites, Racism/Antisemitism/Homophobia tends to be a trend with users. |1Falco3&#124 (talk) 23:49, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
