Free speech issue edit

References to "free-speech position" as well as stating that letters section is open to all points of view without censorship are definitively contradicted by O'Malley herself: "This week we received a particularly vicious letter attacking the Islamic religion from a correspondent who was not ashamed to sign his name and telephone number, and we’re finally fed up with this discussion. We’re not going to print it, at least not for now." [1]. Also, in reference to a group of pro-Israel letters that she received, she stated

"Since most of the writers don’t seem to be Daily Planet readers, we’ve sent this stock response:

'Thanks for your submission. We probably won’t print it, since we usually publish only letters from our local readership area, or occasionally responses to our editorials from other places.'" [2].

I changed it to 2004 when she said that. Perhaps the policy has changed and that's just not in the article. CarolMooreDC (talk) 18:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
