Note regarding claim of "three-time" All-American edit
Though the Jews in Sports article refers to Lom as a three-time All-American, that claim appears to be specious. He was never rated as a first-team All-American by any of the notable All-American selectors. The claim appears to rely on his being selected as a third-team or honorable mention player by certain selectors. The "Jews in Sports" article does reference a first-team selection by Lou Little in 1927, but my research has not revealed any press coverage for an All-American team selected by Lou Little. I'll dig a bit further when time permits to see if I can find a contemporary source for the Lou Little team. Even if the Lou Little team of 1927 is verified as a notable AA selection, that still would not support the claim that Lom was a three-time All-American. Cbl62 (talk) 16:12, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
ball recovered by which team? edit
I have found this:
"Lom attempted the punt, but Lom's punt was blocked and the ball was recovered by Georgia Tech after a "mad scramble" for a safety that gave Georgia Tech a 2–0 lead."
Lom was a teammate of (California, not Georgia Tech) player Roy Riegels, and this comes just after Riegels' famous wrong-way run, which was stopped just short of California's own goal line. For a safety on the play described in the quote, the ball would end up in the possession of California (not Georgia Tech) in California's end zone.
So why does the quote have the ball being recovered by Georgia Tech? Presumably it was recovered by California, not Georgia Tech, right? Yes, the 2 points are credited to Georgia Tech. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 15:35, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
