Malone edit
I've just reverted a cut-and-paste article copy for Malone, New York. I also noticed that recently this page changed wikilink from Malone (village), New York to Malone, New York. Please clarify which Malone was in mind.
Also, I would also ask you to consult wikipedia style gurus whether it is a correct naming style: I have an impression that a common format for dusambiguating titles would be Malone, New York (village) and Malone, New York (town). Insanity edit
I added as a hidden note <!--It isn't clear whether Clark was her maiden name or her married name--> to the line: "Samuel Smith Clark (1801–1870) and Jane Ann Clark (1806–1872)". Whenever the husband and wife have the same surname you have to ask whether you are recording her maiden name that by coincidence or genetics (married a cousin) is the same as her husband; or more likely, you have her married name. Kraxler deleted my hidden note and wrote: "Mr. Norton, are you insane?". Yesterday I was able to find her marriage record where her maiden name is "Wead". Benjamin S. W. Clark may turn out to be "Benjamin S. Wead Clark". So, I guess I am not insane, but Kraxler is certainly rude. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 13:04, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Well, Richard, it's not really necessary to bring this incident up again, after 3 years. Besides, I am not rude, I was rude. Nevertheless, I apologize for having been rude. - Wow, thank you. I am surprised we are not friends since we have such common interests. Do you have a paid account at Ancestry.com or a free account at Familysearch.com? That is where I have been getting the missing middle names from. The WWI and WWI draft registration and the occasional ship manifest has their full names. It is easy to confirm, I just Google their now deciphered full name in quotes: "Firstname Middlename Surname" and I usually get a hit that ties it to a reference source to confirm it is the correct person. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:18, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- I don't want to use any paid accounts, I like to see (for verifiability) what the ordinary Wikipedia reader can see in the sources. But you can add the missing middle names from those ("subscription required") sources, if you can find them, with a short statement where you saw it (as you have done at a few articles recently, thanks).
